Why when someone posts their crappy look DIY projects that look like school kids make them do so many bees support them and tell them how great they are? And if someone is actually honest and say it looks bad theya re the one who get yelled at for being mean? Not every DYI project looks good and we should be honest and tell them so, not be overly supportive on poorly made arts and craft projects!

If they’re looking for advice on how to improve a prototype, I will give advice. If however, they just spent hours making something, I’m not going to tell someone their project looks like crap.

I would say that there are constructive ways to be honest – you could offer an alternative that could HELP the person, rather than cutting them down.
Just telling someone something looks like crap is not constructive! Telling them “you could improve it by doing…” is much friendlier and much more helpful to the OP.

I know what you mean but I agree with MandaMack. If someone asks for advice I’ll be more than honest but if i think the project is crappy then I just don’t comment. I assume that it must just be a matter of taste… Plus its done so there is no point in hurting anyone’s feelings.
