Hahahahaha I totally freak out over scary bugs too!  Just be really careful when you go back home and make your man kill it or take it outside somehow (or take it outside, then kill it… whatever he wants to do with it).  It’s part of a husband’s duty to deal with icky bugs!

I saw this earlier and snickered a little bit… I do find such humor in your misfortune.  My freak-out-totally-not-ever-ok-to-see bug is a camel cricket or cave spider.  They leap and jump and I SWEAR they chase me.  I started clubbing them to death with the broom, but once I hit one too hard and broke the broom!  MrDane was pissed because he had to go out and buy a new broom (the one I broke wasn’t very old either) and he was in charge of killing these vile creatures for me…. except that he SUCKS at killing them.  Like, he swats at it and says “Oh, man, it’s jumping, I missed it” and leaves it alone.  UM, FRICK NO, GET BACK IN THERE AND KILL IT!

So I got some sticky paper trap thingys.  They seem to be working (but I can’t bring myself to touch them to pick them up & toss them in the trash).  Maybe try those?  But put them where your pup won’t step on or sniff it!

@MrsDrRose612:  I think I know the bug you’re talking about… the one I’m thinking of will kind of go ‘poof’ and all but disappear if you step on it.  I stomped one at work and couldn’t find it so I thought I missed it- I even checked my shoe to see if it got stuck!  But apparently that kind of bug doesn’t have much substance to it.  I do hope your Darling Husband finds it soon!!

I know the type of bug you posted about. Not sure what its name is, but they run so FAST, and I hate them so much. They are so disgusting. Ugh.

So heres the thing. I tend to personify a lot of things/animals in my life (thank you Disney) and I have a hard time killing spiders/bugs that I find in my house so husband is in charge. The other night I found a spider and it would not leave! I left it alone for about an hour and told it ‘I’m gonna ignore you so you can get away, just please dont bite me or crawl in my mouth tonight ok’? Deal!”

The spider never left so I had to get a shoe and smash it. The entire time I was apologizing to it while smashing the ever living life out of it. It was tramatizing to me. *le sigh*

Yuck yuck yuck. This is giving me flashbacks of before my SO moved in with me. Centipedes used to hang out in the sink. Middle of the night, have to pee, go to wash my hands and OMFG WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT. SO would just tell me to run the water and let it go down the drain but oh hell no. That was getting my hands to close to the thing. *shiver*

I totally understand. It was not an overreaction. Haha.

Was it this guy?

I posted a link instead of the image because they are soooo gross!  I used to have house cenitpedes in a couple of houses I lived in.  They are attracted to water, and my old house had a very damp basement.

JulesSchnooks is right, they run fast!

And they bite 🙁  It’s not that bad, like a mild spider bite.  Sorry, I don’t mean to scare you.  I used to suck them up in my vaccuum cleaner, but if you start seeing them more often I would probably call an exterminator.  Sorry you have creepy crawlies.

@Macintosh:  YES!!! That’s the disgusting monster I was thinking of! I call them “shrimp bugs” in my mind because those  flailing legs remind me of shrimp swimming. Ugh.

Ugh in our old NJ apartment we would get house centipedes, absolutely HATED them! I lived in NJ my entire life and NEVER saw them before we moved into that place.

Anyway, I moved to FL going on four years ago and it’s like pre-historic scary bug hell down here. Every year I’m unfortunately encountering bugs I wish I never saw again and ones that I’ve been told I have to just get used to. Gross! I can’t even describe some of these creatures and it doesn’t help much that due to the never freezing climate here nothing dies, it just evolves into super bug status.

Sounds a bit overdramatic but I now believe in NJ, the pollution is so bad it has killed every possible bug except for a few and has kept the existing bugs from growing into giants. I love living down here in FL don’t get me wrong but I just wish there were less creepy crawly weird giant bugs!

So far I’ve encountered those giant catydids, palmettos, roaches, all types of moths & spiders. The worst one most recently was a big wolf spider in my shower! I think I used 3/4 of a giant can of Raid on him and continued to spray even after I killed him and it took me a few hours to go back in the bathroom to pick up the body in 4 tissues deep as not to touch him directly to flush him. Now everytime I go to take a shower I have to inspect the entire area. 🙁

@MrsDrRose612:  Ugh so gross, I HATE house centipedes. I lived in an apartment building that was infested with them once. We tried to get the landlord to call an exterminator, and he told us “centipedes are a sign of a healthy building.” OMFG are you kidding me, you sadistic freak?! We moved out shortly after.
