Good luck. I’m pretty overwhelmed myself but I hear that once you have a venue it settles down a little.

If you don’t want it in Vegas could you go a couple hours away somewhere to a nice museum or venue in another city? Somewhere your guests wouldn’t necessarily have to fly ro spend a thousand bucks?

@LyLo:  I’m definitely not going to be able to help because I too am on the frazzled bandwagon. I’ve been engaged for a little over two weeks myself and I didn’t think that I’d feel this way at all. I’m normally a calm, casual person. And I’ve just been having mini-freak out sessions since we’ve become engaged. I guess, I just want to say you are completely not alone. This is normal, I think. Tongue Out And if it’s not normal, you at least have two people to be nutty with you O_o.

A destination wedding could be good, but you have to ask yourself why a destination? Is it to combine the honeymoon into the ceremony and reception? Is it to trim down your guestlist? Is it because you have a place near and dear to your heart?  I think those sort of questions will help to guide you. I’m stuck between chosing Baltimore (where I grew up) and Brooklyn (where I currently live and forming a new life) so these are the questions I’ve found to help me with the location. Hopefully they’ll help you too!!

@LyLo:  Yikes on the court marshal. Well, I guess that helps to narrow it down hehe. Although you’ve had it with Vegas surely there are beautiful parts of Nevada which could work.  If not AZ, there are such beautiful parks and outdoor/indoor venues. I loooooooooved looooooooved Utah (Maob/Canyonlands/Arches) and Arizona (Sedona/Flagstaff/Phoenix) when I visited. You’re also a stones throw away from good ole’ California (LA/San Diego/Palm Spring) if you still want a larger city feel. You’ve got all of the good locations for beautiful photos and venues. I wish I could have my wedding out that way!

Here are some ideas–friends of mine in Phoenix hired a bus to take everyone to Vegas where they married.

Lake Havasu

Lake Tahoe

Sedona

Grand Canyon

Reno?
