I haven’t really checked in here for awhile; I’ve been trying to sit tight since my chemical a couple of cycles ago. Now, though, I’m experiencing lots of hopeful pregnancy signs, and I have an odd question.
I’m now probably 10DPO (possibly 11), and in the wake of several disappointments, I’m trying to hold out on testing until Thursday or Friday.
Usually, I have 25- to 26-day cycles, which means that I ovulate pretty much like clockwork on cycle day 11 or 12. This month (TMI warning!!) I went to the bathroom on CD 10, and much to my surprise, I saw a bunch of of EWCM and a little bright red blood. I’ve never in my life had ovulation bleeding before, but given the timing and the fact that the quantity of blood was so small, I figure that that’s probably what that was? I guess that’s my first question.
Working on that assumption, I called my husband and told him that we’d better get busy ASAP. We did the deed a few hours later, and continued to have lots of fun for the next few days. 😉
Now, here’s my second question: anybody else, espeically anybody with trouble conceiving, experience ovulation bleeding for the first time, conceive that cycle, and go on to a healthy pregnancy? I guess that I hoping that the bleeding means that my ovulation was extra strong or something! After nearly ten months of trying (not totally consistently–we’ve taken a few cycles off) and two miscarriages, I’m looking for any reason to be hopeful that my current symptoms will lead to our take-home baby!
Annnnnnd, my husband’s out of the country for the next couple weeks, and I’m in between teaching semesters, so I’ve got nobody to distract me from the crazy. 🙂

I’m sorry for your earlier loss. CD 10 seems early to ovulate – do you use OPKs or chart at all? I usually get a small LH surge with fertile CF around CD10 but I don’t ovulate until CD17. Are your cycles regular?

victorianghost: I cannot speak to much as I’m not trying to get pregnant yet, but I have had ovulation bleeding my past two cycles (I’m on my third cycle off BCP). I’ve read that ovulation bleeding may indicate that something is stronger about that particular ovulation, but I’m having trouble recalling what it was. Best of luck to you! I hope this is your baby!

Since your cycles are only 25 – 26 days long, it is DEFINITELY possible that you ovulated on CD10. I had short cycles also, and I was charting. I ovulated on CD 10 and had a 14 – 15 day LP. I am now 15 weeks pregnant.
If I had gone by the old wive’s tale that everyone ovulates around CD14 – I would still be TTC. Good luck to you, and I am sending buckets of baby dust your way!

AmyintheTARDIS: Yeah, for a 28-day cycle, ovulating at 10DOP *would* be really early. 🙂 Since mine clock in short (but very consistent), though, that would only put me about a day earlier than normal. I’m not currently charting, but have in the past.
KatiePi: Thank you!!! 🙂 I’m glad to hear that my hope that bleeding signalled a stronger ovulation wasn’t totally off the deep end.
GonnaBeMrsB: Congratulations on your pregnancy, and thank you for sharing the baby dust!!!!
I’m currently about 12 DPO and still holding strong! It helps that the FRERs I ordered won’t arrive until tomorrow. I figure that if I don’t get to use them this cycle, they’ll still be good in a couple months! Unfortunately, if this cycle didn’t do the trick, we’re going to miss my next fertile window because my husband will still be out of the country. Boo!

I had 19 day cycles and ovulated on CD8 and got pregnant. So you can ovulate early and still get pregnant. It’s not weird.
As for your second question, I read that it’s normal to have EWCM tinged with pink or red. So I wouldn’t worry about it for a second. Go test already!!!! I tried to hold out and only made it to 10DPO before I caved. Baby dust to you!

Just wanted to let you know that I had a small amount of ovulation spotting (for the first time ever!) on the cycle that we conceived. It was our 10th cycle trying (2nd cycle after I had an HSG) and everything seemed to come together perfectly! I’m only 15 weeks along right now, but so far everything has looked good and healthy! Best of luck to you! I really hope that this is your cycle!!!

Thread revival! I found this bc I had a streak of red on CD 13 and freaked out enough to call my doctor, who said that since it only happened once and I wasn’t in pain that it’s probably fine. It does coincide with ovulation – previous 3 cycles were all O on CD 13-14. If that was the O, we did it on o-2, o-1, o and o+2… FX!!!
Any other bees whose ovulation bleeding was the BFP good luck charm?
