Hello…I’m new here but a long time lurker
i recently came off BC, not yet trying to concieve but wanting to let my body sort itself out. Last time I went off BC I got my regular cycle back straight away. Anyway, I came off on the 23rd of march, and 2 weeks after this I get cramping like my period is going to come (ovulation?)…however this pain continued really obviously for a week and is still here, but just not always as strong. Is this normal? I had unprotected sex pretty much every other day using withdrawel. I was just wondering if anyone had felt this before. I’ve never experienced it before and am hoping it was just my pill withdrawel symptoms?

@sillybilly88: I can’t tell you if it is withdrawl pain because I was never on BC, but I can tell you that my ovulation pain only lasts one day (2 Max). Good luck getting things sorted out.

@cant.wait.to.be.mrs.d: yes that’s all mine has ever lasted before. Hopefully it will be my body having a paddy as I’ve just come off the pill 🙂

@sillybilly88: I dont really think is ovulation pain, as most people only get it for like one or two days, the most. Maybe its just your body reacting different to being off the pill this time around. Also, maybe you should start temping to track your cycle and if your pain is very consistent, call your doctor, just in case, ya know. GL

@sillybilly88: I went through the same exact situation a few months ago when I got off the pill. I had that cramping pain for about a week and thought I might be preg but it turned out to be nothing.

I just wanted to throw out there that after coming off of Birth Control I have ovulation pain. It can range from a stinging/burning pain in my left or right abdomen, lower back pain, or just a dull ache. A couple of years ago my doctor talked to me about ovarian cysts. Ovarian cysts can occur every ovulation and occur in most women undetected. They increase in size with the different hormone levels throughout your cycle. The only time I didn’t have monthly pain was when I was on Birth Control and my hormone levels were regulated.
I’m not saying that you have cysts, but if your pain continues, I would document it and speak with your doctor. Also, I’m not sure if you’re family is open and speaks about these kinds of things, but in speaking with my family I learned that many of the women in family have similar issues and my mom was diagnosed with PCOS.
Hope you feel better soon!
