ShabbyChicBee:   Hi, I work for an SPCA and we talk about microchips all day, everyday at work haha. You need to call the company that manufactured your chip–most common are Home Again, 24 Pet Watch, and Avid. Usually the little plastic tag that you shouldve gotten after the insertion has the companys contact info. If you didnt get anything, you shoild have. Its a little tag much like a dog name tag that you attach to their collar that basically says ‘i am microchipped with THIS COMPANY’ and then the microchip ID under it. If you didnt get the tag and yoire unsure of what company the chip is from, call your vet and ask who they use. Then do a simple google search and go to their site, and you can either register it online or over the phone. Just have that chip number ready and also a card, theres usually an activation fee.

Good job on getting your baby chipped! Literally the first thing we do when someone brings a stray through the door is scan them.

I just had to go online to create an account with my contact info.  Make sure you update it if you move or get a new number!

It’s pretty easy when you know who did it. If it’s Homeagain (My pets are) all you do is make an account and register the numbers.

ShabbyChicBee:  I think it is 24/7 pet watch.  They both were chipped at the shelter (different ones) but it’s the same company.  I was given a tag with the number to register them on my account after I adopted them.

I recommend petlink because it’s $20 for a lifetime registration…other registration pages charge an annual fee or charge a fee when you need to update your information after moving, etc.

ShabbyChicBee:  There are a few different companies that make them. I have my girls registered with Home Again. They are said to have a pretty good chip with the reviews I’ve read and that it has super minimal chances of “moving” after placement.
