I am recently engaged and beginning to plan my wedding (hopefully Aug. 2013). We are right out of college and have a budget of 15k. We would prefer the Philly area, but are willing to look pretty much anywhere within an hour and a half of there (so including the lehigh valley, lancaster, etc.). ANY ideas for venues? Venue/food is the priority of the budget… we can cut back on other stuff. Please help!

I don’t know about costs, but it would be cool to have a wedding/reception at the Mutter Museum…http://www.collegeofphysicians.org/mutter-museum/
The Penn Museum would also be a cool space… http://www.penn.museum/rent-the-penn-museum/lower-egyptian-gallery.html
No idea about cost, though!

@peachacid: The Penn Museum is awesome!

The penn museum was my dream venue my whole life. They have an average price rental fee but they don’t provide anything else and the exclusive caterer was rather high. How many people do you anticipate? I’ve seen some nice outdoor paces like batraam gardens or anynof the arboretums

Thanks for the help so far! We’ll have a guest list of about 120-130 people.

I’ve heard the Stone Mill Inn in Hellam PA is very nice! It is in York County but right at the border of Lancaster. It might be a little far, and I don’t know if it’s the style you’re looking for, but a friend of mine got married there and her pictures were gorgeous!

@jesswedding: you should check out pnp caterers. they have several halls to choose from and I think packages start at about 50/head. also the warrington country club.

I am getting married at the Riveredge in Reading. No charge for the venue and the cost is about $85 per plate with full bar

It’s 2 hours from Philly so maybe too far… but maybe check out Stroudsmoor Country Inn? Stroudsmoor.com
We have a budget of $15-20k, and it will be our venue. BUT we only have a 90-100 person guest list. So Stroudsmoor may be too much for 120-130 guests.. I’m not sure. But, it’s unbelievably beautiful.

Our budget is around the same as yours and we’re going with Colonial Dames in Philly with DiBruno Bros as our caterer. Since they don’t work with an exclusive caterer and you can purchase your own alcohol, you have a lot of flexibility in controlling your budget. And the venue itself is gorgeous! It holds about 100-120 people.
We also looked at this place. The view from the venue is amazing!! But the reviews on the food made us choose something else. Might be worth a look, though! http://www.hibachidining.com/gourmetwedding.html
