@JackiBean: I’ve heard at least 6 months for alterations and then again at the 2 month mark for final fitting and cleaning, if needed. You don’t want to get too close to your date especially if the shop doesn’t do alterations on the premises.

@kittykat04:  I need so much guidance with the menu. I feel like we are just floating along with whatever the caterer tells us instead of having our own vision. Some of it has to do with us loving everything that we eat and not being super picky. Humbug.

@CaroBee:  I defintiely purchased my dress when I just went to look, too. I’d made a list of dresses a few months before and it was the third dress I tried on from the list. The fact that it was at ridiculious discount helped. Tongue Out

And for us, so far I have the dress, we have the venue, and we are zeroing in on our caterer and photographer. The last two should hopefully be done by the end of this month.

@MissPurplePurl:  I’m shopping photographers right now, its so hard! I love a lot of them but I really need to start narrowing it down. Ugh.

@CaroBee: I live in BK and I constantly drool at the availability of photographers here and then immediately celebrate that we are planning our wedding back home when I see their prices.

I think finding a photographer has to be the hardest thing in the planning process. My partner hasn’t particularly liked the style of a lot of photographers, but he hasn’t helped to look them up either. Yell

Last week I think we have found one that works for us stylistically and budget wise. I just hope that we’re able to book him. The quality of his work is fantastic and I’m sure his 2014 dates will go super quickly.

I have been so excited to start planning everything and my Fiance thinks I am crazy! He thinks if I start planning now that when it gets closer to our date that I will not have anything to do. I guess I see where he is coming from but I told him to rest assured that I will find stuff to do ;). This is what we have done so far:

Booked ceremony and reception site (same place all outdoors)

Booked our photographer

I have also looked at dresses but I have not found the one. When I went this past weekend to try on dresses, my consultant said right now the delivery time for dresses ordered is November. I think I am ok as long as I get one within a couple of months. This is the part I was most excited about and I am also finding it to be the most difficult.

@CaroBee:  I see where you are coming from. I looked at dozens of photographers and had it narrowed down to three. I ended up booking the one that I felt I would be the most comfortable with the day of and for our engagement shoot. 🙂 If you do not feel comfortable being your complete self around that person then they probably will not get the best pictures they can. It is all about chemistry ;). Good Luck!

*booty pops*

We booked our photographer and caterer! I can’t even begin to express how much I feel like a weight has been lifted. I’m still a little unhappy that we weren’t able to get our catering bill down, but at least we have a contract and our rep is fantastic. I am also super excited to work with our photographer who has only shot at our venue one other time, so we’ll get to do all sorts of new and fun things with him in the space and in the surrounding neighborhood.

@JackiBean: Chappelle Show has given me enough GIFs to express every human emotion I will ever feel. Thanks on the kuddos! I think I’ve caught up to you in the planning process, so my hat’s off to you, too. Have you been stalking invitations with the same intensity that I’ve been stalking invitations? Sealed

@JackiBean: lol @ To Catch A Predator! I’m on the prowl myself. We are hoping to do a cute photo along with a short stop-motion video via email for our save the date. So that is out of our hair for now. But we have been going HARD on sites (Minted.com, Paper-Source.com, WeddingPaperDivas.com) for invitation inspiration. Reaching some cohesive vision, let alone the wording, has been painful.
