BUG SPRAY! 🙂 I was so thankful that I had it when I went a couple summers ago.

This goes for anywhere in the South, SPF Chapstick!! Lips burn easily & you certainly don’t want to put suntan lotion on them. On my first trip to Mexico we didn’t think to bring it, we were hurting for a few days!

So. Jealous!   Havent been there in 2 years and we are going back for our honeymoon.

Unless you plan on going off the resort a lot, you don’t need much clothes.  Maybe somedinner outfits.   Lots of bathing suits though.  A dressy shoe for dinners.  We didn’t leave the resort much cuz we didn’t have to.

They don’t have screens on their balcony doors, so if you want to sleep with the door open, buy  a piece of netting you can tape it around the door.

Ditch any lighters before you enter their airport.  They will search all your bags if they detect a lighter.

We took some candy to give to the housekeeper since they can’t accept tips.

Underwater disposable camera.. not that’ll you want to take pictures of your legs underwater in the pool, but it’s fun to be able to bring a camera in the pool/ocean that can get wet. Lots of fun ocean pictures!

@Miss Coyote:  that’s where we went 🙂 Lots of nice beach coverups. Makes it super easy to go from laying on the beach to being presentable to go eat lunch. I think I wore real clothes for the one time we went off-resort and for the nice dinners. Otherwise I was in a suit and/or a coverup

Go on the couples website message board.  Those people are seasoned pros and can help a lot.

Bug spray for sure but….pack some clothes in your husband’s suitcase and visa versa – we went to Jamaica last year and the airline lost my luggage for 4 DAYS. My husband’s luggage was not lost but I had to buy everything…clothes, makeup, toiletries…it was ridiculously expensive, not to mention so annoying and frustrating.

I can vouch for bug spray.  Just got back from our Destination Wedding in Jamaica – Montego Bay and they bugs got to me!!  You should also pack suncreen with a decent SPF – I cant tell you how many people I saw walking around the resort that looked like lobsters!!!  Cute cover-ups are good too.  And I wish we would have packed/brought along smaller bills for tips.  It was hard to keep getting change for a $20 or a $50.

Be sure to pack in your carry on a bathing suit for each of you, a cover-up for you and a tee shirt for him, sunsceen and flip flops so you can hit the pool or beach when you get there in case your room isnt ready!  That came in very handy for us!!

ALOE!!!!  You will burn out there and this will soothe the burn.  If your room has a fridge keep it in there and slather it on after your end of day shower.

I will be in Jamaica for my Destination Wedding in 2 1/2 weeks.  Can’t freaking wait!!!!

* You are not allowed to tip at the Couples resorts, and staff is not allowed to accept cash tips.  It is all included with your price.

*There is a $350 deposit that you get back when you check out.  The gift stores on the resort do not accept payment.  Whatever you buy gets billed to your room, and you pay it upon checkout.  We used some of our deposit to pay at the end.  They have a safe in the room where we kept all our documents and money.

*You will notice there are photographers that go around the resort, especially at dinnertime, that take pictures of you and your SO.  You are able to buy these pictures and have them put on a disc to take home.   Also, you can ask one of the photographers to meet up with you during your stay, and he will take you around the resort at sunset for a photoshoot, and you have the option of buying these pictures as well.  It only costs money to buy the pictures, you don’t have to pay for him to take you out.  It was awesome.

*DON’T FORGET TO SIGN UP FOR ROMANCE REWARDS ON THE WEBSITE.  When you check in for your stay, you give them your rewards number, and then when you go back the next time, you get a free massage, free gift certificate for the gift store etc.  Your points keep adding up for free things.   It explains it on the website.

*When you enter your room you will see your welcome papers to fill out etc.  There is a paper there where you check off what booze and drinks you would like delivered to your room.  This is not a joke, you can literally order 40’s of every alcohol to your room for free.  We checked them all off to see if it was too good to be true, and that evening we came to our room to find 6 bottles of booze, 2 bottles of wine, and all kinds of pop and juice.  hahah.  it was AWESOME!

*There is a little spot down the beach(if you are walking towards the beach, turn right, and keep walking to the next beach, about a 5 minute walk) You can hang out there for awhile, the locals will cook you fresh lobster, and get you high if you want.  It’s a cool little spot to chill for a bit if you want off the resort but don’t wanna go too far.

*You HAVE to try a Bob Marley Shot.  Ask the bartenders for it, but don’t forget to ask for a STRAW with it.  and drink the shot through the straw!  You must try one of these shots during your stay.

*If you like smoothie blended drinks, there’s one called a Hummingbird.  It’s sooooo delicious, but i discovered if you get them to add some Ameretto on top after, it’s even better.  This was my morning “smoothie” every day.

*Take lots of pictures.  When you get home, if you go on the website, there is a spot where you can upload up to three pictures every month, and the person whose picture the resort likes the most, can win a free stay for next time.
