Any solution? Along with sciatic nerve pain I’ve had an almost-constant sharp pain just under my left shoulder blade near my spine since week 20 or so. It doesn’t matter how much support I have or even my posture- I’m very conscious of this since it’s started. Usually a warm bath would help or heating pad works occasionally- but the pain is really bad! :/ Almost like a knife stuck between my shoulder and backbone right there. I was told this was probably a pinched nerve but also many pregnant women experience this with only minor relief until they give birth and lose the weight in the front adding stress to the area.
Can anyone identify with this? Is there ANYTHING that you’ve used that helps?

I had something similar and the best solution I found was actually to get a bra extender! You can get them at Walmart or any underwear store for about $2-$4. It made a HUGE difference for me! My cup size went from a 36C to a 40D in the first 10 weeks, but since then I’ve had to put TWO extenders on my bra. Makes sense though, your ribcage is expanding to make more room for baby, so of course your bra band would need to get bigger too!

I’m not help since I haven’t had this issue yet… but can you try a chiropractor? Or get hubby to massage it? :-/

Sounds like it could be a rib. I would highly recommend a chiropractor. We see patients like you all the time! The earlier the better because ribs are amazing at affecting the musculature around them. And as a bonus, they can take care of that sciatic pain too!

Will look into it come Monday, thanks for the suggestions. Right now I’m not sure if our healthcare covers it but it may as long as I get a referral from my doctor. I’m really interested in going to see a chiro because the pain is really terrible! 🙁

@SimplyChic11: I am having the same type of pain with it extending to the front of my ribs and accompanied by numbness. I’m sucking up the cost and going to see a chiropractor this week because it’s getting to be too much. I have however gained a substantial amount of weight so far with the pregnancy and I’m carrying all in the front, so that probably is not helping the situation.
