OK, I am really knew to this, found out Monday dates work out 5+1, clearblue digital test said 2-3. How far along do you think you are? I have been invited for an early pregnancy scan based on both dates, so even at 2-3 they are giving a scan, they did say they may not be able to see much but will check anyway. FX

Do you have an out of hours GP in your area? If so, I would go to them when your doctors close and tell them you are having cramps and not sure how far you are. I often use out of hours when I know something is wrong but my GP fobs me off lol. This is still an early stage for us and I have been told if I feel the need to go to A&E then to do so. Personally I dont think this is needed because it is so early but if you want to check then they wont turn you away.

I havent had spotting (not yet anyway), slight pain but that could just be because mine is a complicated pregnancy.

I had bad really bad cramping and some spotting early on as well. Just remember it could all be fine. My pregnancy has been fine since. Just take it easy.

I had slight cramping – and one really painful cramp – plus bright red spotting that turned rusty brown a little over a week ago at just under 9 weeks along. I had a scan, they found baby was just fine and there was nothing they could see that would cause the bleeding. A blood test showed that my progesterone level was on the lower side, so now I’m going to have injections twice a week for 5 weeks. Aside from lower progesterone levels, I was told bleeding could be from an irritated cervix, a subchrionic hemorrhage that resolved itself, placental implantation, or just the uterus getting rid of old blood to make room for the baby.

FYI – a scan at 6 weeks might be too early to see anything. I’ve read of a lot of instances where there was only a sac at that point, but weeks later there’s a healthy baby growing in there. But they might be able to see why you had spotting.

Disclaimer: I’m no doctor.

But you said your mum had ‘periods’ (or I assume at least period-like symptoms) for the first three months of her pregnancy. Could it be the same thing is happening to you?

I’m sorry bee! My first pregnancy started with strong cramps and bleeding and ended in a MC but if you read in my post history I posted on here about bleeding during pregnancy and there are so many success stories! Have they tested your HCG with blood tests? If it’s at a good level and is increasing normally that would be a good indicator. I’m now pregnant again and have had strong cramps my entire pregnancy. I normally get pretty painful cramps during my period and my doctor said it is normal. If you’re 6 weeks hopefully you’ll be able to see something soon. We saw the heartbeat at 7+3.
