Hi bees! Just wanted to hear your input on painting the house while pregnant. I am currently only 6 weeks and we will be moving into our new home this weekend and want to start painting right away. Is it safe? Should I wear a mask?

as long as it’s well ventilated and you limit your exposure, you should be fine.

I painted at 4 months. .. we always use the low fume latex stuff. And I did wear a mask to appease my husband. The mask smelled more than the paint. We just opened all the windows and it was fine.

Use no VOC paint and keep windows open.

Windows open, mask, and use zero VOC paint. Sherwin Williams makes one that I’ve used, and works very well. It had zero fumes.

I was about 8 weeks when we moved in to our new house and we painted a lot. We got zero VOC paint (all Valspar paint is either low or zero VOC, at least at Lowes) and had the windows open and it was fine. I’d definitely get zero VOC just so you can have extra reassurance.
