I’m getting increasingly concerned about the cost of paint around here. I’ve never bought huge amounts of paint back home so I don’t really have a comparison. For all you Bees repainting your house and walls, how much are you spending per can (gallon and the bigger version)? How much did you get it for (discounts included) vs the original price?
Also, did you find the more expensive paint to be worth the money?

I hear the more expensive paint is worth it! Less coats, better lasting.
Here in Virginia paint is anywhere from $25-50usd /gallon. Most use the $25/gallon paint, I think.

We were lured into a summer paint sale a few days ago and I was floored by the prices! For a 3 liter can 549:- (originally 680 SEK) that’s $86 and that’s not even a whole gallon’s worth?! WTF! Their 10 liter jug was a little better but still friggen expensive! SALE price 1499:- ($189) originally for 1995:- ($252 ?!!?!!). Seriously, is it made of gold?
I guess I just need to suck it up and stop comparing. I miss Home Depot and Lowe’s!
I think I’m gonna go cheapy for the interior paint and decent stuff outdoors since the weather here is kinda extreme. We really need to make sure we agree on the color before we paint.

I buy Valspar for about $25/gallon, but around 4th of July they have $5 rebates. I’ve also used Olympic and been happy with both.
Don’t go cheap on paint–there is a reason good paint costs more. It’s low odor/low VOC and sticks to your walls properly. No chipping, goes on smoothly, all the things you really want in a paint.
Our kitchen used 2 gallons, our hallway used 2 gallons, so did the bedroom….basically if you’re going to do a few walls, it’s about $50 in costs.

Holy crap! 2 gallons per room! Is that just 2 coats of paint not including the primer?

If you use a primer, you should use less paint. We painted our bedroom with less than a gallon of Valspar 10 ft by 12 ft, but we had a primer down. Valspar here is very affordable, but I bet they have stricter safety and VOC standards in Europe and you are paying for that!

I LOVE Valspar its from $20-30 a gallon. Depending on the room size 2-3 gallons a room. We dont use primer unless its going on new drywall and just do 2 coats of paint.
Fiance use to do painting on the side and said its as good or better then some of the $50+ he has used for people who bought there own paint
