Hey, bees! I need your help badly. We’re having an art deco theme, and I wanted to do something really cool with the table numbers, but I think I might have gotten carried away.
These paintings (below) will have the table number incorporated into them (for example, the windows on the building are the one, the sax is the two), and I’ll highlight that with glitter or metallic markers or something so it will be more obvious. They’ll be sitting on the table with just the centerpiece, and they’ll be on small gold easels. Each painting is 5X7.
The idea sounded great to me, but I’m worried about the execution (there’s a bit of white space on #2, but I’ll fill that in). I’ve included a pic of our centerpiece mock-up. Will these look okay or should I scrap the idea?

You can do it but some people might find the numbers hard to figure out.
You could get around that by posting a picture of each table number on your seating board so people know what they are looking for.

I think that having a painting is a unique idea, but I think that it will be hard for guests to read. I looked at the photo of the sax and tried to figure out the number (before reading your description) and I couldn’t figure out the number!
Do you remember sesame street and the graphics that they used to use for their numbers? I imagine something like that. You can probably find some Sesame Street on Youtube and find those clips where they are counting. The number is more prominently displayed and clear, which keeping some of that art deco feel.

@julies1949: Good idea, thanks! I’ll also make them be the only thing in glitter or metallic or whatever on the painting so hopefully that will help too :).

I think the paintings would look nice on the tables. I agree with julies1949 though- the numbers are a little hard to pick out. I like the idea of posting a picture of the table number on the seating board or escort cards. Or just make sure you make the numbers stand out a little more. You want them to be fairly obvious so people aren’t confused about where to sit.

Repost when you add the glitter or something to make it more obvious because I think this is the coolest idea! As a guest I would have fun finding my table number and would def take the time to look around at all the other ones.

Thanks so much for your help, guys! I’m definitely googling Sesame Street pictures when I get home, too :).
