Hey bees, would love some advice (and of course pics, because who doesn’t love some good ring porn)
I’m trying to decide on options for my e -ring and wanting something to suit my skin type. For reference my skin is super super pale (I do no tan at all), and I’m very color sensitive because anything slightly yellow really stands out on my pale skin
-I love the brighter/whiter look of silver, but wanting something more durable. White gold doesn’t look as bright (not sure if 18K would look brighter than 14K?)
-Cannot decide between plain Vs pave band, or solitare V halo
Any pale skin girls out there, please post photos of your rings. Would love any and all advice please

hi there! I’m not pale but I never noticed silver being brighter than white gold. Here is my ring set in 18k white gold:

Most white gold is rhodium plated, and a person cannot get much whiter/brighter than that. Many places also plate platinum with rhodium to delay patina, but when the rhodium wears off, it is still a white metal underneath. As for stones, you may be surprised at what you can wear. Skin is never snow white, and there are always some warmish tones, so with an excellent cut Round Brilliant, you could probably go with a G. I have a friend who is ghostly pale and wears a good sized I stone. It is set in white metal and no one can detect color in it. But try on many stones in different color grades; it is the only way to know for sure what you will like and what you won’t.

I am very pale, and have a palladium set, which is comparable to platinum. Besides that I always wore sterling silver. Palladium is sliiiightly less bright white, but still looks nice on my skin tone. But honestly I think any metal would look good.

I think that many people place too much emphasis on color where diamonds are concerned. Diamonds are viewed primarily table up, but color grading is table down. Table up, as you wear a diamond in a ring, color is not as easily perceived due to scintillation. Anything from I (and some J) color and up is going to look fine in you, and absolutely no one will say the stone looks yellow. I have very pale skin (thank you Irish and English forbears, for making me burn easily in the sun). Any metal looks good on me, but if it’s white you’re after, palladium alloy white gold or platinum are your best options. I’m not a fan of 14kt, too much alloy metals, and finest gold jewelry is always 18kt.

I’m fair skinned as well. My ring is 18K white gold. I think going to a jeweler and trying on the different metals will help you find what suits your skintone best. But it’s really personal preference. For me, I didn’t like how yellow gold looked on me. My other things are silver so I was already used to a whiter metal.

I’m SUPER pale, redhead problems lol I have a white gold ring and I think it looks beautiful. I don’t think ring color and skin tone should be a problem though, just get what you like 😊

My RH, sterling silver. Bf and I decided on platinum because it’s hypoallergenic and durable. I’m pretty pale as well, I wore shorts last week and my calves glow.

I have fair skin… I’ve tried to figure this out too. As far as metals go, supposedly your undertones determine what looks best, just like shopping for make up. You can figure that out by looking at your veins… personally I think as others said it’s really more about what you like. I attached a photo with different metals to give you an idea of the difference in color. I would suggest going to a store and trying each one.
Pinky: silver. Ring finger 14K rose gold bands, 18k rose gold ering. Middle finger: platinum on top with an 18 k yellow gold band. Index finger: closet to my hand is 14k white gold and the outside band is 18k white gold ( the index finger rings we’re my grandparents and clearly need some shining up so not the best examples)
Happy shopping!! Can’t wait to see what you pick! 🙂

Pale skin with pink/cool undertones. I look better in white gold/silver. I picked platinum because it’s hypoallergenic, doesn’t need to be dipped, etc. My stone is an E., for reference.
