Spring Break and I have a love/hate relationship right now… currently HATE!! I come back after a relaxing week and all shit hits the fan!! I’m about to break down, have a panic attack, throw all my books out the window AHH 🙁
I’m normally pretty good at math. I’ve never had too much of an issue with it, if I don’t understand something I can usually sit down and teach it to myself with no problem…
However, I’m seriously trying to understand everything in my online pre-cal class and am completely overwhelmed!! I have absolutely no idea what the heck is going on, I keep rewatching the videos over and over and over and it all sounds like gibberish to me!!! I feel like I missed something at one point or another (something really really really important obviously) because I can’t get ANYTHING!!!! I was doing so good in this class and at one point (don’t exactly know where…) I stopped understanding everything. It is now snowballing, there is a test coming up in 2 weeks over all the material learned from last test onward…. AND I KNOW NOTHING.
Homework is due Friday, can’t do any of it because I don’t understand it, quiz due sunday…again can’t do any of it. 🙁
okay, vent over. Time to buckle down and beg someone to tutor me 🙁

I felt this way during my 600-level financial accounting class. In order to catch up, I read and re-read the textbook about a 100 times. I ended up taking about 30 pages of notes, but I ended up with an A- in the class. Good luck!

Oh, poor baby. I know exactly how you feel, I get this way sometimes still. Work will be exactly the same way some time in your future, so this is good preparation. You can do this! Break it down into smaller, easier pieces and take one thing at a time. Have faith in yourself.
I have to give myself a pep talk every time I have a HUGE work project and I’m completely baffled and stressed as to where to begin. But somehow, some way I always manage to get it together and accomplish the seemingly impossible.
You can do this, you’ve been doing it all along. You will do it again. Hang in there!

I’m going to have to start from the beginning because I have a feeling that whatever I missed is the key to understanding everything from that point on. I’ve been sitting here staring at the book and videos for the past 2 hours and cannot figure out what on earth the prof. is talking about. All I hear is “wompwomp, womp womp womp womp”
I think I just need to step back and take a breather. I feel bad asking someone in my class to help me… I don’t want them to meet with me and be like okay what is it you need help on?
I’ll just have to look at them and say EVERYTHING.
To the tutoring lab I go, no matter how defeated I feel right now 🙁

Yes, take a step back and give your brain a break. The WOMP WOMP is a sign, lol. I have been having a spring-fever-wedding-on-the-brain-fog lately at work, so I feel ya! Good luck!

I would talk to the professor now before the next test, like WAY before. Tell him you’re kinda lost, if you did well on the last test he/she should be more than willing to help you. If they cannot or won’t help you they might be able to point you in the direction of someone that can. Does you school have an academic center? My college has a place you can go to get tutoring in certain subjects for free (I bet Calc is one of them.) I would be honest with the prof, unless they are complete A**hole, in my expeireice they usually help.

@Jamie42003: I will definitely try and talk to her… however all of her lectures are “live” online classes…and you can ask questions there. All I see is people being chewed out because she thinks the questions are “stupid” and she doesn’t really listen. There is a tutoring center, I’ll be heading up there (can’t go until Thursday though 🙁 ).
A couple of people started a Facebook page for our class and I posted asking if someone would be willing to tutor me. Still waiting on any responses… cross your fingers
