I will get panic attacks under extreme duress and stress- to me if feels like tightness in the chest, rising pulse and inability to breathe.

Well, first I will say that panic attacks are different for everyone.

For me, I generally have dizziness, a feeling of “fluttering” in my chest and feel hot and cold all over. I also just feel overwhelmingly terrified.

But I also have had panic attacks that were more subtle – pain in the center of my stomach, like someoen with an iron fist was squeezing down. I had those more when I was a kid, but I’ve had them at night lately.

Doesn’t happen a lot for me but when it does it’s like i’ve had WAY too much coffee or red bull, like my heart is going to pop out of my chest.

What I consider a panic attack (for me):

– fluttering feeling in chest, feeling like I’ll pass out, heart racing (or feeling like heart has stopped), really cold sweaty hands

Generic anxiety feelings i’ve felt at one point or another:

– cold and hot flushes, particularly cold up and down spine, sweaty hands, feels like i’m skipping a heart beat, head pressure, light head… Also peeing a lot (this is REALLY spot on) and burping a lot (you “eat” a lot of air when you’re anxious apparently?)

@stardustintheeyes:  I can relate to that, except I normally get super anxious at the gym. I’m afraid of a heart attack or something similar (irrational I know) so I tend to get really anxious when I’m working out!

oh panic attacks are horrible! And for me, they feed themselves, in other words worrying about having one can bring one on. I had a series of them a couple years ago and they were so bad!

I hope you find a way to conquer yours

@stardustintheeyes:  I totally understand and I ended up in the ER once as a result. Fortunately? I was saved from total embarrasment because I was sick and dehydraded so at least I got some fluids and felt like I wasn’t wasting everyone’s time.

Yoga helps me tremendously, if you can focus on your breathe it can help conquer the mind.

Heart racing, overwhelming feeling, then chest pains and my breath taken away. Couple of times it’s felt like a heart attack and then I can’t breathe, it makes it worse.
