Have you thought about just buying them from a local bride and selling them on here or on craigslist. I looked at renting them, but it seemed to cost just about as much as buying the lanterns.

I live in Seattle and have 40 white paper lanterns (brand new) that I bought from a bride on weddingbee that I will sell to you for $75.  They are from http://www.lunabazaar.com/white-10-inch-round-premium-rice-paper-lantern.aspx, and value around $125.  I think the sizes are 12”, 14”, 16”, and 18”.

Send me a personal message if you are interested!

Don’t know if you figured this out yet, but I was online shopping for them last night and asianimportstore.com had the best deals!! $1 for 8″ and $1.23 for 12″ and they come in many different colors! I’m getting lime and navy to match my wedding. I know you prob won’t use them, but for a dollar who cares! You could use them for parties or bbq or just give them away. A great deal I think!

I recommend buying them.  I bought 24 huge lanterns on ebay from a seller named “craftsnfavors”.  I think they cost me about $60 in the end.  The lanterns rip easily so I asked the seller if they’d throw an extra one in just in case (because I needed exactly 24) and they did!

I recommend just buying them.  Then you can donate them or sell them afterward.

Here are the ones I bought.  I think they were 24” (red) and 16” (orange).
