Our venue has beautiful square style candle holders for aisle decor. They stand about 3.5 feet tall and hold a square glass hurricane with a candle inside. At the base of each one (under the square top) a small birdhouse will be tied with purple ribbon.
Here is the kicker – To use them WITHOUT the hurricanes/candles, they are free. With, they charge $8 a piece to rent them!? Given that price, I had decided to buy my OWN hurricanes and candles (surely cheaper than $8 a pop?!)
Now as I get closer, I wonder if that price (more like $5 each) is worth it for 30 minutes in a ceremony. We won’t use the hurricanes and candles as decor otherwise. In playing with options, I decided that perhaps round paper luminaries might work. What do you guys think of these? They have flickering faux tealights in them now.
Do they need something added, maybe a band of purple paper at the bottom, jewels, ribbon? And do you like the look of the taller (about 6 inches) or shorter (about 4 inches) size – keeping mind they are about 3.5 inches across and the bases of the pillars are about 6″x6″.
