I’m getting married this year. Which, for me, means finally addressing the birth contol topic. I have never used any form of birth contol other than condoms on the rare occasion that I had sex. I don’t want to have kids for another 2-4 years, but I do plan to have lots of sex — lol.
I don’t like the idea of using any hormonal birth control. There are several contributing reasons to that decision. Right now, the option that looks the best is Paragard (the copper IUD). I’ve been reading that side effects include heavy cramping and heavy periods. However, most of those people mentioned they had experienced those side effects from their periods in the past.
I have never had those problems. I usually have very easy 3-5 day periods with little to no cramping. They are always a steady 26- to 28-day cycle. I’ll experience one day of heaviness, but nothing that a simple tampon can’t handle. This is one of the [many] reasons I don’t want to take a hormonal birth control. Why risk messing up a good thing?!
That being said, is there anyone who is similar to me who has used Paragard? If so, what are your thoughts and recommendations?
