I have paraguard as I did not want hormones either. Mine has been in for a year.

It was a tad painful putting in, but over in a few minutes. The first time I had my period I nearly died from the cramps which made me double over.

I had cramps with my regular period that were intense too although in a different way. The cramps aren’t as bad now, more tolerable. But I do get cramps during ovalation which is new for me. The cramps are different too, hard to explain.

The big hang up for me is that I had a 4-5 day period which extended to 7-10 days. Not full on bleeding, usually two days of very light pink bleeding then two days of blood, then it slacks off again.

I’m unhappy about the extended bleeding.

@jg780806:

Oh PS, I did get the bleeding down from 10 to 7-8 on my own. They have studies that vitamin E works as it counteracts the copper?

I also found that taking slim quick helps reduce my periods to five days, I suspect that it is the added vitamins and iron that does this as a lack of iron makes your period worse.

I am thinking about getting the paragurd because of heavy periods.
