@Diamond88:  No problem 🙂  Have you had a look at spinels? They’re a bit higher up in the MoHs scale than tourmaline and they come in a range of colours too

I just got one.  It’s almost impossible to capture the glow, at least with the camera on my phone.  The glow is what sets it apart from other tourmalines. I can post others if anyone is interested.

In addition to looking into blue-green spinel, try researching blue-green topaz. I bought two topaz stones in the same shade as Paraiba tourmaline on eBay for $10 shipped. They were treated, which may bother some, but the diffusion that enhanced their color is permanent, unlike with mystic fire topaz. Also, since it’s topaz, it might end up being a little harder than the spinel, but definitely more durable than apatite.

Here are some of the other shots.  Some day I may actually use a real camera, but the phone camera is so much easier…I would love to be able to show how the stone glows even under low light.
