I am wondering if I should have Paper Parasols for my guests since my wedding will be outdoors with no shade. But I am concerned with them obstructing other people’s views. Anyone have or heard of issues such as these? My other choice would be to use a Burri Fan which is smaller but I do love the look of the parasols.

I haven’t heard of this but I think it sounds really cute. I’d also worry about blocking peoples’ views…it seems like people have to crane their necks a lot already to see from the back rows. I’d also worry about people getting poked in the eye by excited kids or fighting for space with their neighbor…

I’ve seen it done and it can be beautiful, and for the shade guests can appreciate it. That being said, you are correct in your worry in that they can block other guests views.

If this helps we are doing our programs as fans. That would help to keep them cool and maybe bottled water by where they come in. I am doing parasols for my bridesmaids instead of flowers. i think the parasols might block other guest views though. hope this helps and good luck with planning!

I thought about doing parasols too, but I’m not sure how it would look if not everyone uses their parasol. You can look at The Knot.com for ideas. I’ve seen a couple weddings where people have used them.

So I have decided to do the fans for shade and the umbrellas will line the aisle. Thanks for your input.
