They’re typically used in photos, or if you’re having an outdoors ceremony, you can let your bridesmaids all hold them.

If you have an outdoor ceremony guests can hold them for shade.  I think older guests like them bc they dont like to be out in the sun.  Bridesmaid or Best Man can hold them for shade as well.  I think they are just cute props for photos.

I’m having a Destination Wedding and I’m having my BM’s carry parasols rather than boquets. They are cheap and look great I think especially on the beach.

They’re also used for the thank you cards.  You’ll see “Thank You” parasols on wedding websites and on Etsy.  It’s a prop to be used on your wedding day, a pic of you and hubby with the words “Thank You” on the parasol (being held, lying on the ground, etc.)  Then you use the photo as the cover for your thank you cards.
