Jessie, I am in the same boat. I have no idea what to get them. My parents just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary last weekend and my Dad just turned 50 so I would like to give them a gift to honor all these occasions.

Help us please!! 🙂

How about a gift certificate to a nice restaurant?  Send your parents on a date to a place they’ve been wanting to visit!

Not sure if your parents are into this kind of thing, but we got both sets of parents tickets to see shows… one set to see Sound of Music and the other to see Jersey Boys….

Both our parents loved the gift!!!

Between the two of us we have a lot of moms, so I had simple handkerchiefs made with our monogrammed initial and plan to give them to the tearful moms on our wedding day.

Another idea would be to get lockets and place a photo of you and your FH inside.

For the dads, no idea. Trying to think up gifts for men drains the life out of me. Another pair of socks?

The only thing I keep coming back to is a nice clock, one that sits on a shelf.  But both sets of parents have gorgeous family heirloom clocks (probably how I came up with this idea, is because I WANT those clocks, haha).  And I can’t think of anything else.  🙁  Maybe this idea will help someone else?

I also like the idea of a gift certificate to a restaurant or a hotel.  My sister gave my parents a gift cert to a B&B on Martha’s Vineyard and they have yet to use it 3 years later.  Ugh.  What a waste.  My sister is still disappointed about that.

My parents would be happy with a dinner and a movie. My FI’s parents don’t leave the house.  So I dont know.  My Future Father-In-Law loves to fish so maybe a tackle box with fishing lures.  I think that would be a very cool gift idea for him.

We are making up gift baskets.  In each we will have a bottle of red wine and a bottle of white.  Also, a nice photo album (empty when we give it…obviously for wedding pics!), and a gift certificate ($50) to a restaurant.  If we find good prices, we may be able to keep it at about $100 each.

My parents are big golfers, so we’re getting them tickets to a local PGA championship.  I’ve heard of some others that have gotten their parents a weekend away type thing at a local B&B, etc.

My parents are baseball fans.  We are getting them tickets right next to first base and lunch at the clubhouse restaurant.  This might not work for you, though.  What are there hobbies? What do they do on their off time?  Other ideas: weekend trip, theater tickets, spa massages, engagement session pic in a nice frame.
