OK I really enjoy the atmosphere on wedding bee and hanging out with all the younger girls, but sometimes I want to talk about parenting teens (and parenting young adults), mid life careers, menopause, etc. I tried googling and there doesn’t seem to be a forum like that which attracts more than about 1 post per day. Does anyone know a good forum, just like Wedding Bee except mainly for us older ladies?

@paula1248: Not too sure what the atmosphere is over there, but have you tried Hello Bee? I know they focus on mainly post wedding life – Hello Bee was started by Mr & Mrs Bee, who started Weddingbee. 🙂

@pengoala: Thanks for the suggestion but that’s all about pregnancy and new mothers.
(Plus the light text on light background is really annoying – WeddingBee colours aren’t great Hello Bee is 10 times worse)

@paula1248: I’m glad you posted this! I’ve been feeling the same way. I went from bride-to-be to instant wife and stepmother of four, including two young teens/’tweens at the time of my wedding (they’re 15 and 17 now), and it absolutely was an enormous adjustment for me.
Parenting teenagers definitely has its challenges. If nothing else, perhaps some of us can even just PM each other when we experience some of those extra stressful moments! 🙂

@paula1248: Oh okay. 🙁 I tried! Sounds like there’s room for a new forum somewhere in cyberspace!! 😀

@pengoala: Definitely time – Fiance and I are lucky enough that my DS and his Dear Daughter are grown and gone, but I do think there is a need for something that addresses step-parenting teens. 🙂

@Mrs Canuck: can’t we start something on here ? I definitely need help with my own 14 and 17 year old!!

I’ve parented 2 teens and was a middle school teacher for 10 years. I expected teen years to be awful but all I’ve had are really good experiences with both my son (now 22) and my daughter, who just turned 17. I think it helps that I’m an older mom (I was 37 when I had my daughter). Her friends all call me “mom” and will chat with me about almost everything. I’m not looking to be a friend/mom but as your kids grow up you do fall into a different role than when they were little. Not every day is smooth sailing, but most are. I think I love this part of parenting at least as much as when they were little.
I’d be happy to discuss anything with other moms 🙂
