- Wedding: August 2009
My parents have been uncharacteristically generous and understanding with this wedding. They are paying for the vast majority of what will be a beautiful event. I want to show my appreciation, and in a few months we’ll be able to afford a really quality gift, but right now with the expenses we’ve covered for the wedding, we’re strapped.
The other thing – the day after our wedding is their 40th anniversary. My siblings and I are getting them an Alaskan cruise as their gift. I was also going to make them a scrapbook of their 40+ years as a couple, like do solid research, contact their old friends, get stories, old pics, favorite songs and restaurants from when they were dating, the whole nine yards. I wanted to get this done before the wedding (hysterical laughter). So the scrapbook will happen by their 41st anniversary.
I want to get them something as a thank you gift for the wedding, separate from the anniversary, but have no budget for it. Any ideas? I am including several surprise touches throughout the wedding to honor their anniversary. Would a heartfelt card suffice for now with an explanation of the scrapbook to come, and an expression of how grateful I am that my parents have been an amazing example of a successful marriage? Help!!
