What about giving them the frame at the rehersal dinner, maybe with a family portrait from another occasion, and tell them you’re getting a professional wedding portrait for them once they’re printed?

I would give them the frame, no need to put anything in it, and tell them your intention.

We weren’t really planning on giving parents gifts. We will probably take a wedding photo and enlarge it into a fancy frame to give to them after the wedding though.

We aren’t getting our parents gifts. His parents are paying for our flowers and they are REALLY hard to get gifts for so we are taking them out to dinner AFTER the wedding ( our schedule is too packed!) I didn’t know it was customary to pressent the parents with a gift at the rehearsal dinner. If we HAD given them a gift I’d do it privately not atthe dinner anyway.

I agree with PP who mentioned getting a frame to give them then and stating your intentions. You could even print a cute IOU. You mentioned wanting to make sure the frame matched the image, which makes sense. I would make sure to choose something pretty generic (maybe a black frame), and you can go ahead and decide on a size. Were you thinking a large picture to hang? If so, what about a 16×20? If you would rather it sit on a table/shelf, what about an 8×10?
