Fiance and I have been dating for 6+ years and tomorrow our parents are going to meet for the first time! Eeeek!
We’ve both spent equal amounts of time with each other’s families, so I know them really well. Both our parents are pretty laid back and friendly, so I think it’ll go ok.
I’m still nervous as heck though!
To make me feel better…does any one have any good, bad, or funny stories for when your family met your SO’s family?

@futuremrsgo: Well, for both of us, it’s just our mom’s. They met last September when my mom was visiting, so we took them out for dinner.
For some reason, and I have no idea why, my Future Mother-In-Law called me by my FI’s ex-wife’s name twice that night! She’s never done that before, and she’s never done it since.

Ohhhhhhhhh golly girl. I could tell you I was EXTREMELY nervous for my parents to meet his. My parents have been divorced, and married, three times to each other. His parents have been married for 29 years or so and are extremely religous, my family not so much. So I was nervous for that difference in between them. Also, my dad is insanely immature. He thinks he is 18 I swear. He is the person at Thanksgiving who says extremely awkward/inappropriate things that no one needs to hear. My family met his for the first time at FI’s college graduation last year. It went fairly well, thankfully. They didn’t spend much time together so I don’t think my family had time to open up the crazy on FI’s parents. I am waiting for my graduation for this glorious event of crazy-explosion to happen because FI’s family is hosting my family for a post-grad party at their house…. dun dun dun! Should be….interesting…

@SeaSalt: Oh that’s so weird! I wonder what made her do that. Glad it hasn’t happened since!
@newname_99: Haha my Future Sister-In-Law and her Husband had to do that when their parents met! All went really well though! Good luck 🙂
@MissChelly: Haha! My dad can also be kind of immature. The inappropriate stories at Thanksgiving dinner has happened on more than one occasion in our family! Glad to hear the first visit went well. Good luck on the second!

Our families are crazy similar. We booked a table at the local pub, siblings/partners came along. We had a great night. Actually about to book another dinner as my fellas folks want to have another dinner date.

@Milo: who knows? Her brother was quite ill so she had a lot on her mind I imagine. Fiance has been divorced for 15 years so I think it was just a moment of absent mindedness. No harm done and it didn’t offend me.
