Our parents didn’t meet until after we were engaged, and in some ways it’s better that way. Everyone’s on their best behavior.

They should meet. But since your parents are more laid back i’m sure you can discuss these white lies with them. Just give them a heads up 🙂

It shouldn’t be too big of a deal!

Also, my So’s mom and my parents met a number of months ago for the 1st time (after 5 years of dating). They are very opposite also and it was great!

Future Mother-In-Law has only met my mother once (and that was one more time than I prefer) and several other family members twice. She’s very reserved, so it’s hard to tell how she felt (though she was warned about my mother beforehand).

Future Father-In-Law and his wife have only met my family once (at my grandpa’s funeral), but that went fine. They actually came home from vacation early to attend the funeral, and then FSMIL spent a little time talking to my grandma. She wanted me to point out my mother and wanted to know if she should go say hi, but I told her not to bother.
