My son (4 months) loves this ball: http://www.amazon.com/Rhino-Toys-Oball-Rattle-Colors/dp/B00188XW26/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1292552465&sr=1-1  Since it rattles he can bat at it hanging above him.  Plus his little hands can grasp it and attempt to get it in his mouth.  Right now I hang it with these (http://www.amazon.com/Rhino-Toys-Oball-Rattle-Colors/dp/B00188XW26/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1292552465&sr=1-1) – but the cool thing is as he gets older – it’s just a ball to play with πŸ™‚

I’ve also had little wood cars in my house for years – for the same reason (nieces/nephews/friends kids).  They also grow with kids – little ones can try to chew on them and bigger kids can play.  Tons on ETSY.  http://www.etsy.com/listing/62400593/two-organic-wooden-cars?ref=sr_list_23&ga_search_query=wooden+cars&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&order=&includes%5B0%5D=tags&includes%5B1%5D=title&filter%5B0%5D=handmade

I’m not sure the age group but any kid 3 and over loves memory πŸ™‚ And it’s CHEAP!

Dominos is also something that adults can play but kids love to stack and knock down.  Also Jenga πŸ™‚  Kids make up their own games!

If you have friends coming over often with babies you may think about finding a pack and play and/or bouncer seat second hand.  Right now Warren isn’t rolling so I can put him down for naps anywhere – but i’st be nice to go somewhere for game night (bible study) and put him to sleep in a pack n play so we can hang out late – then just transport him home. Some parents may not want to do this – but I put Warren down for naps all the time at friends houses.

You are so thoughtful to set you house up for young visitors! Anything you have is going to be great and they parents will be thankful!

Those toys sound great…I would just make sure that all stuffed animals are washable. They will inevitable end up in a babys mouth!

A mini kitchen and some play food are always great. They grow with the kids and allow kids to use their imaginations…

Those are great toys!! I wouldn’t worry about the corners on the blocks they are usually rounded and not sharp!
