I would personally go with the venue with free parking…tho since it is an extra for minutes away…ugh hard decision…

If you do go with the venue with the parking, could you afford to pay for a portion of the parking…or I would at least warn guests ahead of time because I know I don’t always bring cash with me.

I think $13 isn’t bad at all and if that is where you want to have your wedding, go for it.
I had the same issue, since the city owns the parking garage (not owned by the hotel) it would have been almost $25-$30 just to park.  Luckily, my parents are picking up the tab and the hotel has a deal with the garage.  It will only cost  $12 a ticket.

I would put the parking info on the invitation and most of the guests will carpool anyways.  I know you may be worried about guests complaining but who really cares?  If they don’t complain about that, they will probably complain about the 40 min. drive to the other venue.

I don’t think that paying for parking is a big deal… as long as you let guests know so you can be prepared.  I recently went to a wedding in the city.  On the wedding website, on the reception page, it specifically mentioned parking, i.e. “Some street parking available, parking at XYZ garage for $$ or XYZ lot for $$”.  It was great as a guest to know where to park and how much money to be prepared with.  I wasn’t upset about having to pay to park.  I would actually prefer to pay to park than to have a long drive to the reception site.

We kind of had this same issue. We went with the venue that guests will have to pay for parking. :-/ There is street parking if people want to walk a few blocks, but I still feel like a chump that they’ll have to do that or pay for parking.

We live in a tourist area and the parking is $15 for the day no matter what (unless they are guests at the hotel and pay the parking fee there)  For people who that is really too much…I’m going to suggest they carpool with someone else they know is coming.
