- Wedding: October 2012
My FH and I are having a very small (30 people at the most) wedding in October. Everything is pretty much done and the only things left are flowers and decoration details. We only invited our close friends and immediate family because 1- we have a small budget and 2- we wanted an intimate setting and not a huge party. FH used to be in the Navy and has a lot of Navy friends. Most of them are still in and were recently deployed for 7 months with the possibility of it being extended. He wants to have a gathering/party to celebrate with all his friends. I would have called this an “engagement party” but now we can’t have it until September, at the earliest. At that point in the time, I think it’s a little late to call it an “engagement party” but I don’t think it’d fall into the “bridal/couple shower” category. We’re not having any of those parties anyway, just the ceremony and the dinner after, so this would be the only “extra” party outside of the wedding. I feel like people are expecting something before the wedding and this kind of seems like a second reception for those who weren’t invited.
Anyone else been in a similar situation?
