Nope, I’ve never heard of that. What is it, like a kitchen demo? Now I’m going to use the KitchenAid mixer to make a pie while Darling Husband dries off with the new towels?

We have gift openings the day after. typically only for family/bridal party. My sister’s was held at our mother’s place around lunch time the day after her wedding.

@Sking: hahahahaah

No I haven’t heard of this. I’ve heard about people doing what  @Khumble: is doing but thats about it. I, personally, wouldn’t want to- I think after our wedding I’m just going to hide from everyone for a while because I’m going to have to be way too social for the expected wedding events to have to add anything else on haha

That’s pretty funny :). If you want to compromise, I would invite close family over and cook something with all your new kitchen gadgets.

There was a tradition at one time of displaying gifts at the bride’s parents home in the period before the wedding or sometimes during a home reception.  In The Philidelphia Story there is a scene in which wedding gifts are displayed.  However this went out of fasion sometime in the 60’s.  Perhaps it’s made a comeback, but I’ve not heard of anyone doing this.
