I have seen several threads on the WeddingBee that say you can change your name at no cost but you only have a year after marriage. Then many posters say it’s true, but I cannot find any links about that.
The only think I can find that seems official is this one. You can change your name for free if your passport was issued within the year. Not married within year. Otherwise you have to go with a different form and pay.
So the latter is correct, right? Anyone that said the first is true, then when was your passport issued?

It is only free if your passport was issued within the past year.

@yellowshoe: That is what I found too, so thanks for the validation! I am wondering if the other ladies got their passports near their wedding date to think it was within a year of marriage.

yeah it’s definitely not free within the first year of marriage. i haven’t changed mine yet because i didn’t want to pay it (i don’t need my passport anytime soon).
