@AB Bride:  The traditional type would work if you plan on serving dinner regularly outside, Darling Husband and I are looking at a conversational type because we wouldn’t do that much.

If we had a porch large enough (in the future when we’re homeowners) I would get a set like the top with an actual table.

I voted both because we have a table and chairs for outdoor dining, as well as a pair of zero-gravity chairs and a small coffee table. Best of both worlds!

@AB Bride:  My husband and I saw the most amazing patio set!! We want it so bad but it’s $1000 and we havn’t even gotten any indoor furniture yet for our house lol Plus we plan to redo our deck next year so what if we buy it and it doesnt fit then what will we do. Its not a eating set but more like the second picture you posted.

@AB Bride:  I totally cant afford that store!! The set we say was at JYSK which is inexpensive but the set we want is a couch, two chairs and a long table with cushions so I think its worth the $1000. The only problem is htat in Canada you never know the weather so I dont know how much use out of it we would get

Someday when we have the backyard for it, we’ll have a full table and chairs.

We have a pretty large 24×15 deck, so we got both.

@AB Bride:  We have a large patio and so have several sets, Two seating areas are around tables. Two other areas are conversation-types. Once or twice a year we have big parties with 50+ people here.

Since you asked about patio furniture and I have a strong opinion about it–I urge everyone who is buying patio furniture to consider the honeycomb type. It’s been around for decades and it is classic. What I like about it is that it doesn’t fade like the plastic chit and you don’t have to clean it off much becuase much of the outdoor debris falls through the holes. While the paint MAY fade or chip if it is around long anough, it’s easy to spray paint.

Also, whoever decided that cusions are appropriate for outdoor furniture is a tool of the devil. Oh yeah, I’ve got lots of time to run around and take up cushions when it is raining, and put them out again when not raining. NOT.

I love this type of honeycomb furniture. If you can get older versions through craigslist it is better made and heavier than the new stuff from China.

I know you weren’t asking about style, but the furniture in that first photo is hideously ugly IMO. That in the second photo has better style.

My freind has faux wicker furniture that’s been on his porch now, thorugh winters, for 5 years or so. IT looks pretty danged good, considering.

@AB Bride:  I love JYSK! It has only come to Ontario recently and it has some nice things for a decent price. I have been there so mcuh lately finding home items since we get our house in a month 🙂
