@aicila:  “you have no knowledge of what it is like to be black in this country.” Are you white? If not, you have no knowledge of what it is to be white in this country. By your own logic. Are you gay? You have no knowledge of what it’s like to be gay in this country…that’s silly logic. We all have friends, family members, coworkers, spouses who may be very different from us. We don’t know PERSONALLY what it’s like to be something else, but we can go through some of the experiences with other people and hopefully sympathize.

I agree with you that typically if a white person is calling a black person the n word, it is not with good intentions. Same with the word “fag” or “dyke”…but as part of the LGBT commuity, I can tell you that it drives me INSANE when I hear someone say those words and then say “I’m gay, I can say that.” Nope, doesn’t make it okay. Some logic with the N word. But I do have a genuine question for you…my cousins are very, I don’t really know how to describe them correctly without someone somewhere getting offended…but they hang out with a lot of black people and seem to associate themselves more with black people. They use “nigga” all the effing time. Is this offensive?

@arabbel:  My black friends are like this too. They think the n word is idiotic and it’s ridiculous that other black people use it so flippantly.

@soontobemrsm11:  I don’t know what it is like to be a man, gay, white, or anything else.

As a black woman, you all scare me.

@aicila:  Oh my god. I cannot fathom how ridiculously stupid your last statement was.

I cannot even respond because… do you even hear yourself?

@aicila:  But what about the white people who grow up in urban, largely black populated areas where the n word is thrown around constantly, because a large majority of their friends are black, who use it regularly. It by now means is meant in the derogatory way as you stated. But in the same way as black people do in an endearing manner such as my sister and my brother. Is it then, okay for them to say it? Or, because of the color of their skin they are not allowed to say it in that context and are considered racist, ignorant, confederate flag waving bigots?

blacks cannot be racist, however, can be predijudice. Racism is a social construct That is created by society, to benefit the majority. Blacks are not the majority.

Read something about racism in America.

@MrsTillerResq:  I’m white too 🙂 Surely not racist. I just call it like I see it. The glory of being biracial- I see it both ways, especially considering I grew up in a predominantly white area. I am no more black than I am white.

@TexasSpringBride:  if you aren’t black you cannot understand what it is to be black. I am actually marrying a white man Who is open to learning about my culture and my views.

surprise!!

The media makes a big deal over anything. I don’t even pay attention to it anymore, it just a lot of drama over nothing.

We’re getting a lot of flags on this thread and it’s starting to veer into personal attack territory, so I’m going to go ahead and shut it down so we can review it.
