I am curious for those that have or are considering purchasing from a pawn shop how do you verify quality? Real diamonds? I have always wondered how you protect yourself in a pawn shop setting when purchasing jewelery.

@Treejewel19:  credible pawn shops (at least the one i work at) has two gold testers which they can do in fron tof you (density test and acid test) also gold is typically stamped.

We also have a diamond tester that will beep if its a moissanite or any other fake stone.

Also all jewelery comes with a verified valuation.

I

just got mine yesterday (had it on layaway since May).  my hubby’s uncle owns the shop.  I paid $900 for this ring.

1.06 carat 14k.  Not sure the diamond clarity, but I can see one feather inclusion with my naked eye.  It is very white, don’t see any hints of yellow.

The wedding band is my original band.

loving it!!!

I have a family ring, but the first place Fiance went to look at rings before we got engaged was a pawn shop. They had a lot of nice jewelry, the saleswoman was very nice, and the environment was so much more low pressure than a jewelry store. We had a blast!
