Hi everyone! We got my ring at a pawn shop (after several months of searching) and got a great deal. Has anyone else found good deals at pawn shops?
The center stone is 1.15 ct and the ring is an 18k yellow gold halo setting. The color is K but you can’t tell at all because the yellow gold absorbs the yellowish tint. It is also GIA certified!
The ring fit perfectly when I tried it on, which I took as a sign…
Pics below. Cute dog to distract from my messy nails…
Also, I cannot for the life of me get these pictures to rotate. Sorry!

Beautiful! I love pawn jewelry but haven’t been able to sell my husband on it yet.

slomotion : Thank you! You definitely have to be cautious but my diamond is GIA certified and they showed me the inscription and all the diamond statistics. We got really lucky. But as I said, we were searching for months!

Gorgeous! I’ve been reluctant to visit a pawn shop to see all the pretty sparklies bc the ones in my area are in very bad neighborhoods. Like I hope the car would still be there when I leave lol.

Beautiful! I never see rings that nice at my local pawn shops, only old cluster rings

Your dognis absolutely adorable, and so is the ring. Pawn shops we’re on our list of places, and we arill might look into getting wedding bands there. There’s one nearby that also does custom jewelry and we able to resize my ring in an afternoon for $30.

lexlonghorn : We found my promise ring at the pawn shop! It looks like an engagement ring but we’d only been together for about 8 months when I found it and fell in love. I had to have it, especially for the $675 it cost. The band is my engagement ring and I will get a wedding band for the wedding.

hopefulfuturemrs : I love the idea of the sparkly band as an engagement ring pairing to your promise ring!
and op your ring is swoon worthy!

I am dying to know how good of a deal you got on it. I have looked at jewelry at pawn shops, but found some of it quite overpriced for what it was. In any event, that ring is gorgeous!!!

Thank you everyone!!
hopefulfuturemrs : beautiful!! I think jewelry shopping at pawn shops is so fun. It’s hit or miss but you can find some really cool stuff!
des- : The ring was listed at $4,000. Based on all the research I’ve done, this is about what it would be at retail. But we bargained down to $2,500. When I say we, I mean my fiance… he was negotiating with them for at least 30 minutes. We were literally walking out the door when they stopped us and agreed to the $2,500. I was biting my nails! The ring had never been worn either, so we were thrilled with the deal. They probably ripped someone off when they bought the ring and got a great deal on it. I think pawn shops typically buy your stuff for about 1/3 what it’s worth. They probably paid like $1,200-1,300 for it. Most (but definitely not all) pawn shops are willing to negotiate a little. Don’t ever just go by the price they have listed. We have noticed that the really big chains of pawn shops (like Cash America Pawn) don’t negotiate much. We avoid those places!

I love pawn shop jewelry!! I buy rings off of pawnamerica.com all the time!!! They have a return policy, so you can get it appraised after you recieve it and return it if there is anything wrong. I don’t see anything wrong with saving money!

Love pawn shops! We are going to try and get FH’s wedding band from one near us as he wants quite a heavy/thick gold band. My band was also initially from an estate sale, though we bought it through etsy.
