My bridesmaids are purchasing their own dresses ($75) and have insisted on paying for my bachelorette party (i.e. I do want to contribute, and have offered, but they won’t have a bar of it!).
If money were no object to me, I’d cover everything for them, but unfortunately I am not able to. I can, however, pay for one thing out of hair or makeup, but wasn’t sure which one to cover.
I’m happy to pay for their makeup, which costs more than hair, but then is it harder for them to DIY their hair (if they choose not to/are unable to pay for it themselves)? Vice versa if I pay for their hair instead of their makeup?
I don’t really do much with my own hair or makeup on a daily basis so I have no idea what’s easier to DIY.
Could I just let them choose, individually, what they want me to pay for?
E.g. “Hair is $X and makeup is $X – I’d be delighted to pay for one of these (I wish I could cover both!); you can choose to pay for the item I don’t cover, or you can DIY, whichever suits you. Just let me know which one you’d like me to cover.” What do you think?
