It would be kinda tacky to not take care of the tip but pay for the hair.  Either pay for the hair and the tip or don’t pay for it at all.  As for all the added costs, no one forced you to have 8 bridesmaids.

I think as long as you tell your BMs ahead of time it should be ok.  Really, a tip is a thank you for a job well done, so I don’t see why you shouldn’t let them be the judge of that.  Plus, you’re paying for everything else which is really generous, so I’ll think your girls will understand.

I think if you’re paying for their hair, you should also be responsible for the tipping portion.  I am debating how important their hair/makeup is to me on the big day…I know they will look nice no matter what, but something about having my girls being pampered with me is nice. 🙂

I’d pay for both.  Weird to pay for the service but not for the additional service fee…

I think when you said you’d pay for the hair, you assumed all of the costs related to it, and that includes the tipping.

Pay both. If you say that you are covering the expenses of hair, one would assume the entire expense.

I was in a wedding once where the bride gave us gift cards to the hair place, it covered almost all of it. And it was a little bit odd.

I think you should pay for the tip too.  I think it’d be weird to ask your BMs to cover it.  You don’t take someone out for dinner, pay for their meal, and then ask them to cover the tip right?  Also, if you are requiring specific hair, then you should be paying for it anyway.

I would basically tell them that they don’t have to worry about paying for their up’dos and if they feel that they would like to leave a tip for the stylist than they can go ahead and do that 🙂

@MrsElliott:  Really? No one NEEDS 8 bridesmaids.  That is a choice you make knowing it increases costs for your wedding.  You always see brides on here whining about not having enough money for their wedding but they have large bridal parties.  Just annoying to read that on here  when if you scaled your wedding party down you wouldn’t have to worry so much.

@MrsElliott:  OH sure, I’ve had that happen to me too.  But that’s usually a spur of the moment decision to treat and happens when you are fighting over the bill and said so the other party doesn’t feel like a free-loader.  I think that’s different then telling someone that you want to take them out and that you will pay for their meal, but not the tip.  Wouldn’t you find it a bit odd if your mom said to you “Hey, I want to take you to dinner.  I’ll pay for all the food and drinks, but you’ll have to cover your own tip.”  I think it’s weird to pay for a guest’s food, but not for the delivery of the food.

Anyway, glad we could help!

We are paying for the bridesmaids hair as well and the tip. It would be kinda tacky to ask them to pay for the tip since they aren’t even paying for it. We have budgeted for it though. I wanted them all to have their hair done professionally so we decided to pay for it, I felt like I couldn’t ask them to pay for an extra expense.

I’m paying for everyone to have their makeup done, still thinking about their hair
