I’m getting ready to purchase a dress that’s shipping from Canada and I’m using paypal as my method of payment. Has anyone had any bad experiences with using paypal as a method of payment? I’m buying a wedding dress and it’s a lot of money. I use paypal all the time to purchase things from ebay and I have never had any problems, but since this is shipping from Canada and it’s not a purchase from ebay, I’m having some doubts.

I’ve never purchased outside of the US, but I’ve always had good experiences with paypal.

I’ve never had issues with Paypal and, especially for a purchase like what you’re making, the added security that Paypla provides it great!

Paypal is a great protector of buyers. It can be sketchier for sellers, since it favors the buyers in disputes, and is quick to close seller accounts if things go sour with a buyer.
As an extra layer of protection, I always buy things with a credit card through Paypal so that I have additional avenues of recourse for a refund if things don’t turn out well, or if it is a custom item that takes more than 45 days to arrive (since Paypal only covers you for 45 days)

I’ve never had any problems buying or selling through paypal. I feel very secure in using them for anything, not just ebay.

I LOVE Paypal. I just opened up an account about a week ago just for the wedding. I feel really secure about buying things from vendors outside the country. I have my checking account linked to it and they also gave me a line of credit so i can use either or.

Well, it is a dress that I have to buy and the seller said it would take 20-30 days for them to receive the dress once the order is placed. The thing is, I don’t have the whole amount to pay for it yet, but I have to give a down payment for them to order the dress for me. And they said I could pay the remaining balance at my convenience, but they will not ship the dress to me until I’m done paying for it.

I use Paypal all the time. Be careful, as I believe it’s typically a 45 day period to get your money back if you haven’t received the item, or if the item is received and doesn’t match the description.
Curious, why is it a dress that you “have to buy?”

Hi loopz, how was purchasing your wedding dress from Canada using Paypal? I’m now in the same position you were in. I found a dress on preownedweddingdresses.com, and the owner of the dress lives in Canada. She wants to use Paypal, and I’ve never used it to buy something so expensive or outside of the US. I’m nervous that it won’t be the dress I want, and I won’t be able to get my money back. How was your experience?
