scarlette.seaman:  No, it’s not necessary! A friend of mine recently was in the same budget predicament, and they invited their bridal party over for a grillout/bonfire the evening before… We made burgers and hotdogs, and then we had s’mores for dessert!

Rehearsal dinners are not mandatory.  We had a dinner for the out of town relatives so we could spend some time with them outside the craziness of the wedding   We knew there wouldnt be  chance to sit and catch up and relax with them the day of.  This is the only reason we had a ‘rehearsal dinner’.

Nothing is really mandatory for a wedding except getting the certificate signed.  Do what you can within your budget and just enjoy your day.
