So I had one large follicle using gonal f  (17mm), I then had 4 between 12mm and 17mm, and then 4 under 12mm. We did iui and I am currently pregnant with twins! So with 5 potentially decent sized follicles two ended up taking!

I’ve had a decent amount of follicles on clomid, but as they matured, the number got smaller. If they aren’t that big yet, then I would imagine some will shrink back down or stop growing. I used clomid twice, the second time with gonal f, and had three mature follicles both times. I only had one tube, so that knocked me down to two follicles since one was on my non-tubed side. I did back to back IUI’s and did end up with twins (one didn’t make it). If you’re not doing IUI, I wouldn’t personally be too worried about having a few follicles unless all 5 do mature.

On average, I have been getting 4 follies/cycle (Clomid originally, now Femara and injections because Clomid stopped working for me – I have PCOS too). I had heard that PCOS + fertility drugs results in a high amount of follicles because our hormones are working on overdrive or something like that? So probably pretty normal haha.

First time I was told I had 4 mature follies I was scared for 4 babies too! Haha. But remember that that just increases your odds and it is so rare for all 4 to take 🙂 Now I get excited if I get 4 because I know I might have better odds than just 1 or 2! Good luck 🙂

(Still waiting on my BFP… 4 follies right now in the TWW)

soontobemrsKB92615:  it’s exciting but definitely overwhelming!  Im only 7 w 5 d and feel huge already hahaha! Sorry you guys are being told not to do it…our first iui was cancelled because we had more than 10 mature follicles…it’s definitely a let down! Hopefully the next round gives you better results!

soontobemrsKB92615:  my second Iui was cancelled due to too many follicles. I had 5+! My doctor wanted to go ahead with it but I couldn’t bring myself to do it… I do NOT want multiples! Sorry you have to wait this cycle out… At least you respond well to meds!
