Hi Ladies….I am hoping to give some hope to others!  My DH and I tried for 4 and a half YEARS before we were blessed with our miracle baby.  It was the hardest thing I ever had to go through. Friend after friend was pregnant, some with twins. Me? Nadda. And I desperately wanted to be a mother more than anything.  After tests and meds, more tests and meds, we went through a few rounds of Clomid. Dont ever take that crap! Holy!  (I was also on Metformin, Provera, and one other med, I apologize I dont remember what.) What finally did it for us? Ovidrel.  Only took 1 shot in the tummy and we were pregnant that month.  You DO have to go in for lots of ultrasounds to make sure they give you the shot at the right time, but its worth it.  When we decided to try for a 2nd child, we did the same meds (started Metformin 6 months prior) and then we were pregnant the first time.  Have faith ladies. I know its rough. I know its depressing. I was there for MANY years.  Im hoping to give you all some hope that it WILL happen!  If anyone is interested, just message me, I can call my doctors office and find out what that third med was.  But it was the ovidrel shot that worked like magic!!!  Baby dust ladies! Praying for you all!

morehousea21:  That’s very encouraging, thank you for the post! Couple questions: what happened with the Clomid that made it so bad? I’m on my third round at 50mg. And I’ve never heard of ovidrel. What did you have to do to go on that? And where do you live? I’m in Canada and I’ve noticed a couple differences in the way fertility is handled. Thanks again!

Hi ladies,

I took a little break after our first round of clomid was not successful in April. It made me feel super weird and sick and I had major hot flashes and mood swings. I decided I wanted to see an Endocrinologist before continuing down that route.

Then of course, when we were taking May/June off (and buying/moving into our first house!), we got a BFP! Just got it on 7/2, and think I ovulated around June 21/22, so very early days, but we are hoping very much for a sticky little baby!

Called my OBGYN today and waiting to see when they want me to come in for bloodwork this week to make sure all levels are rising as they should.

But here’s proof that sometimes when you forget all about trying at all, your body decides to play ball 🙂 Baby dust to everyone! And thank you all for providing some great insight into TTC with PCOS.

Lone Star:  Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and words. I am still a wreck emotionally and am trying to make sense of the whole situation. I went to the RE this morning for more bloodwork. I have not started spotting or bleeding yet. I am just cramping. I am not sure where I go from here due to the fact that I do not get AF on my own, it is always induced by provera. So I am just in limbo. hopefully I will have some answers soon! Thank you for the support!

MrsTwister:  (If this posts 2x…sorry….page froze up!) When DH and I were TTC I always tried to read encouraging posts about women who were pregnant with PCOS.  It made me a little more confident that it WILL hapen!

Clomid – I got the “Clomid Crazys”.  Too much hormones I suppose? I hated everyone, and everything. My husband basically said I wasnt allowed to take it anymore or he would push me down the stairs (he would never really do that…he was just making a point…we have a weird sense of humor. haha)

Ovidrel is an inejection hormone that induces ovulation.  I never ovulated on my own…only had a period literally once a year.  My OB/GYN’s office that i have been with since I was 18 (i am now 31) has an “in house” fertility specialist.  She is amazing.  I live in the suburbs of Buffalo NY.  I lived in Florida for a little while and they never did anything to help me.  Moved back to Buffalo, went back to my old doctor, and she had me pregnant in 6 months.

*****I remember the medication (and order) that they had me take!  I was on Metformin daily for 6 months.  They would introduce a period with Provera.  Then I would take 5 days of Femara, and then after an ultrasound to make sure I had an egg ready to realse, they injected the Ovidrel.  Once they found that combo, it only took 1 cycle.  Once we decided to TTC #2….we used the same routine, and it worked on the first try!

Like I said, I was in those shoes before. For many, many years.  It was incredibly depressing.  Have failth!  It will happen!  I am hoping that for whoever reads this, it may even spart a converstaion with their doctor about those meds.  I have a good friend that also has PCOS….clomid didnt work and I encouraged her to ask about Ovidrel.  Her DD isnt much younger than mine….and she also has a DS with the same routine also.  I was never one to promote medication. ever.  But I am a firm believer that for women with PCOS, these meds make a huge difference.  They gave me my 2 miracle babies! And I hope it works for you!  Baby dust and lots of prayers!!!

katie395:  Hugs, hang in there hon. Hope you get some answers soon.

AFM, my RE just called and scheduled me for a consult on August 7. It feels like a long way away, but with a family wedding between now and then, I’m sure it’ll go by fast. By then I should also have an idea whether or not my regular cycles are a thing of the past or if this last one was a fluke. If he puts me on Clomid, I won’t complain. I have a high deductible and ultrasounds are OOP, so I can’t afford to go straight to something that requires a ton of monitoring just yet.

I feel like I’m 11 years old again trying to figure out my cycle right now. I’m now on CD7, which is about the 10th day of bleeding/spotting. My periods haven’t been this long in yeeeeaaarrrs and it sucks! Last time this happened I wasn’t charting seriously so I don’t know if I ever ovulated. Do you think a longer period will push ovulation back at all? I usually ovulate CD17, or at least the couple times I know I did O, it was CD17.  Do you think I’ll O around the same time, or later? I have no idea what to expect now.

Unrelated: I just learned that a tornado touched down in my hometown of Syracuse. At least two people are dead, one of whom was a baby. Please send prayers and good thoughts that way, tornados are very rare in that area and it’s not something anyone’s really prepared to deal with.

AmyintheTARDIS:  since going on Clomid my period has been 6-7 days and it used to be 4, maybe 5. And SUPER heavy in the middle (sorry, tmi). I haven’t noticed a change in ovulation though. The one time I ovulated when I wasn’t on Clomid I was around CD14, and I’ve been consistently Oing between CD14-16 (last cycle they weren’t sure). I don’t think a longer AF will hinder you much. Just extra practice for an extra day or two just in case 😉

Those poor people in Syracuse…I feel awful for the family who lost the young one. Sending my thoughts and wishes to them xo.

AmyintheTARDIS:  prayers sent your way. I’m down in the city but my bro went to SU so Syracuse has a place in our hearts. As for your period delaying O, I honestly have no idea. Not sure if you’re taking OPKs but that, in conjunction with bbt should give u a good idea of when it’s coming/when u do O. And hopefully your consult in August will shed some light on what’s going on, too.

AFM, Im on CD31 and still. no. O. Ughhhh. I called my dr on Monday out of frustration and went in to see her today and…. I got the script for clomid! Who would’ve thought I’d be excited to take more meds?! Anyway, still holding out hope for this cycle but at least Ill have the clomid for the next round if need be which brings the hope up even more.

hello ladies

i thought i would give yas a little update. well to be honest there is no upadate lol.  No period still.  Though things have been strange.  I went to see the consultant 9/6/2014 and on 3/7/14 i have a very strange bleed so though it was my period however it quickly went away again.  since then i have had really light (like bearly there) bleeding.  I keep thinking its my period.  I had implantation bleeding in my previous pregnancy (lost that baby at 8 weeks) so i did a preggo test BFN.  Which is horrible.  The consultant wanted me to have bloods done on cycle day 2 however how am i ment to gt them done if it never happens??  I have been doing my diet and its going well have lost weight so thats a good sign but so far not really helping.  I have subsituted all dairy products with soya alternative however i have read now that this is not good as it sends yr estrogen wonky.  Anyone else heard of this??

To top of my tale of woe my brother and his girlfriend just had twins.

trinity_542: My period is like that too! Since April, I havent had a decent period that I could be proud of! It’s like a bit of spotting here and there. Although I’m on metformin and my doctor assured me I’d get a proper period this time but on CD 49 I thought I’d get AF visit me in proper sense of the word but NO, it’s very light and I know I’m not pregnant because it’s been three months this has been happening to me and I’m not hopeful at all. Maybe I’m getting menopause? At 32, with PCO that could be a possibility?. It’s first time in my life, I’m actually praying for a good visit of period eps ever since I’ve started to TTC …weird luck I’d say I’m having!
