You guys…I just started Clomid this morning and HOLY HOT FLASHES!  And dizziness.  My menopausal secretary had to loan me her fan (laughing the whole time)!  Please, Clomid gals, tell me this won’t be the norm for the next five days…

Lone Star:  oh no ๐Ÿ™ I am supposed to start on friday! something to look forward to i guess! I have no idea if this lasts the entire time as I have never taken it before. I am usually always hot to begin with so this should be an experience to say the least! I hope it passes for you soon!

Lone Star:  Ah so sorry! That sounds awful. I know a lot of people swear by taking them at night so you can at least try to sleep through the worst of it. Hopefully it eases up for you!

katie395:  It was really weird. It would say my reply posted, but it never showed up. I’m really hoping the ultrasound isn’t as bad as last time and that you can start the clomid! I recommend taking the clomid at bedtime to avoid as many side effects as possible. It’s worked for me so far.

PeachBee:  I tried begging both doctors to refer me, but neither will. I’ve been trying for over a year. Oh well. It looks like I may be Oing today, so I have a little hope!

lillieb33: I completely understand how you feel. 50mg didn’t work for me either. I went back to the doctor at around cd45 and he gave me provera, then started me on metformin and 100mg of clomid. I ended up Oing on cd27 that cycle. Since starting the metformin, I’ve also lost over 10lbs, which I think has helped. I remember that when I was in your shoes though, I felt so defeated and helpless. It’s a really crappy feeling, but it will get better. I’m hoping that you O soon and get your BFP!

Kabatchy2be:  That dip on CD34 could be ovulation.  Maybe you ovulated 48 hours after the last positive OPK and you’ll see CH in a couple days?  I’ll keep my FX for you!

Stiz:  Welcome!  I’ve just hit 5 months of TTC.  I thought it was longer because my cycles are super short (19-20 days), so I’m actually in cycle 7 at 5 months.  Anyway, my point is that I have my first appt with an RE next week and it is all very intimidating to me too.  I think it’s normal.  I will likely have to go on Clomid too.  Lots of women here have experience with Clomid, so there’s a wealth of information to be found from this board!  FX that your TTC journey is a short and successful one.  ๐Ÿ™‚

PeachBee:  Sorry to hear injectables were so awful for you.  I’m keeping my hopes up for you that you won’t have to do it again because you’ll have good news to share soon!

lillieb33:  Oh no, I hate hearing that you’re feeling so down.  I feel the same way about FB.  Pregnancy announcements everywhere!  I actually had a close friend get pregnant and then have an abortion.  It obviously had nothing to do with me but it was so hard to hear when I want to get pregnant so badly.  Who knows why life happens the way it does.  Don’t give up hope yet with Clomid.  I hear that the 50mg dose doesn’t work for lots of women and the 100mg dose is successful.  Definitely stick to your guns and see an RE if that’s what you want.  We’re here for you.  *hugs*

Hey everyone! Thanks to everyone listening to my rant and responding with such kindness. I’m feeling a bit better today (for the first time in days). I tried to go back and respond to everyone individually, but the weddingbee webpage looks SO messed up right now (just the boards portion at least!), so I apologize if I got details wrong for anyone!

@Stiz: Sounds like I could’ve written your original post on here, only difference is my ovaries currently have cysts (as per u/s in Feb). We’ve been TTC for 10 months….although a lot of that shouldn’t even count since I didn’t know I had PCOS until like 2 months ago. Ugh. I basically have not had a non-medication-induced AF since 2013. I started with 50 mg Clomid last month, but it didn’t work for me. All of this seems so overwhelming and intimidating to me as well…there are just so many variables! Glad to hear your doctor seems proactive. Best of luck and I’ll be following your progress on this thread!

@Kabatchy2be: thanks for the kind words. 6 expecting friends is pretty rough…that’s how I feel, I guess I should be thankful the ppl I know are not my BFFs or anything, for the most part.

sara79: thank you…I think I do need to step away from FB and friends who are expecting (I just feel like a terrible, petty person for the latter step!) Hope you are feeling well, mama!

@katie395: Glad to hear AF wasn’t as bad this time around! Glad you are going to be starting Clomid…will you be monitored? I’ll probably be on Round 2 here in a few weeks…not far beh

@Lone Star: Yes! I also had really bad hot flashes on Clomid…but I took mine at night to try to mitigate that. Unfortunately, I feel like mine lasted even a bit after the 5 days…

@sheclicksherheels: “Defeated and helpless” was the perfect way to describe me the past two days, thank you for nailing that. As much as I never want anyone else to ever feel that way, it’s comforting to know I’m not crazy because I’m getting emotional about this. My OB/GYN said I don’t need Metformin, but I wonder if my RE will agree. Yay for an early + OPK….FX for you!

@Christy42213: Did your friend who had the abortion know you were trying/having trouble!? That’s the worst. I definitely know ppl who have had abortions as well. Or I’m always hearing about people “accidentally” getting pregnant when they don’t want more kids. Every time I see a preview for Teen Mom or related shows, I pretty much fly into a rage. It IS weird how life works out sometimes.  I did start laughing the other day bc I’m trying to keep my mind off TTC/infertility, but no matter what program I watched that day, it had commercials for diapers or FRERs or baby-related stuff, and it was so ironic that I couldn’t help but laugh.

Ok, one more thing that is really weird…I have all of this new-growth flyaway hair that is about 2-3 inches long at the top of my head…I initially thought it was breakage and it just looks like I have static-y hair. Someone said this happens due to hormone changes, ie stopping BC, after having a child, etc. Obviously I haven’t had a child and I stopped BC last May, so just wondering if any of you have experienced anything like this? My wishful thinking is that maybe this is a sign that my hormones are more balanced.

PeachBee: So if you go on a particular person’s chart, they have their name and maybe pic in the top left. Underneath that, there’s an “Add to Friends” button.

katie395: Hi fellow Cappie! Yeah, we’re pretty awesome like that. My birthday is December 31 – New Year’s Eve baby!

Kabatchy2be: I concur – if CD34 is your O, and you DTD at O-2, you never know! FX for one more high temp.

AFM, I am trying hard not to symptom spot, but I feel weird. Yesterday’s low temp was a fluke – I had to get up at 4am for a conference (fun, right?), but then when I came home at the end of the day, I was having vertigo like WHOA. I could chalk it up to exhaustion (13 hour day), but I’ve been exhausted before without feeling like the room is spinning and my brain’s about to fall out. And of course I looked it up here http://www.countdowntopregnancy.com/early-pregnancy-symptoms/symptom-chart.php?symptomid=68, and it’s the highest at 9 dpo (ahem, yesterday).

So yeah… we’ll see what temps the weekend brings…

lillieb33:  I’m embarassed to admit I watch teen mom which is dumb bc it just gets me angry. One of the girls in particular who has had countless deadbeat boyfriends and then just decides to have a baby with one and poof! She’s pregnant again. Ugh. We just gotta be positive, our turn is coming!

CraftyBelka:  I’ve been keeping an eye on your chart. So excited for you to test! And I think you guys are right about me Oing on CD34. Wish DH and I DTD on CD33 like we originally intended. Hopefully O-2 and O-3 was enough…

So just wanna praise my obgyn real quick. She called to check in on me yesterday. Maybe this is common for other people but this is new and refreshing to me. Love this woman!

lillieb33:  I would ask to try Metformin anyway. I wasn’t originally prescribed it because I’m not that overweight, but when the 50mg dose of Clomid didn’t work, he said it wouldn’t hurt to try. I’ve also really limited my carbs and I find that helps. Good luck!

CraftyBelka:  omg I’ve never met another NYE baby! I’m not alone! Haha. AFM, my chart is looking quite bonkers. Lots of EWCF for three days but low temps and very negative OPKs. No idea what my body is doing.

Ladies thank you so much for your warm welcome! This is such a weird/ awkward/uncomfortable thing tot alk about with most people, it’s great to share with you! I appreciate the support and hope I can help others with my experience, too.

So far things are going to plan. I started AF yesterday, 1.5 days after last progesterone pills. Starting Clomid on Sunday (CD5). My doctor also has me starting progesterone again three days after suspected ovulation. Anyone else doing this? I think they are guessing I am having a real problem producing it on my own. My RN called today and said if I get pregnant (or not) they are referring me to an endocrinologist next month.

PeachBee:  What type of injectibles if you don’t mind me asking? Just curious what other doctors are doing.

I have been on before but mostly just a lurker and wanted to post an update.  After an 81 day cycle and the doctors office making a few errors.  I finally got my day 3 testing.  I am officially diagnosed with PCOS (Both from an ultrasound and the hormone level imbalance).  I need to have an HSG done in my next cycle (who knows when that will be but they said to call at day 30 for more aygestin to induce AF).  They are also going to do day 21 progesterone testing to see if i’m ovulation (which doesn’t seem likely). Then hopefully everything is clear and we are ready to start trying with clomid.

CraftyBelka:  AH! I know a lot of people on the POAS boards say they experienced the dizziness around 8-10 dpo. I know you want to maintain a level head so you aren’t as disappointed by a negative but your dizziness excites me – haha. Monday is your anniversary?

sara79:  Yep, the anniversary is on Monday. I haven’t seen too many dizziness/vertigo posts, actually, do you have any links? Or it’s just stuff you remember seeing? It’s a very strange sensation, I have to say… I was wishing we had a blood pressure machine at home. I generally have low Bridal Party, and to have it drop enough to cause dizziness, even with normal eating and drinking, was some cause for concern.

I looked at last month’s chart, and my temps started dropping at 11 dpo, so we’ll see what the next few days bring. Trying to be level headed while wanting to obsess endlessly is hard. I started researching stuff like cute pregnant clothes instead of DPO symptoms, bc it’s easier to look at way-future stuff, and not “OMG NOW” stuff. But thanks for obsessing with me and not just being, “Pssht, you so crazy” ๐Ÿ™‚
