Hey Bees! I’m a bit confused and hoping yall may be able to help. Long story short, I know this week is my “high fertility”/ovulation week. According to my app, I was not supposed to ovulate until tomorrow, but my app is usually 1 – 3 days off. I took an ovulation test (Clearblue) on Monday & it came back with “peak fertility” – the solid smiley face. The smiley face will stay on the display window for 2 days to signal to you that these 2 days are the best to try to get pregnant. Since I thought it was a bit early, I decided to test again this morning & got “peak fertility” again with the solid smiley face.
Perhaps Too Much Information, but last night I got a discharge of a small thick, sticky ball…like the size of a pea, maybe even smaller. The days before, it was more clearer, wet discharge. I know that is all part of the ovulation week, but I’m not sure if the “ball” usually happens before or after you have ovulated? (Probably a stupid question, I know!)
Anywho, I’m all confused on my cycle right now & not sure when or if I have ovulated or am about to? I know this sounds silly, but I appreciate any feedback/help.

It is possible to have more than one LH surge.

OPK’s are testing how high your LH levels are. Luteinizing Hormone is what initiates ovulation. So the idea is that when the level is super high, it will initiate ovulation and you will ovulate within 12-48 hours.
HOWEVER – you CAN get a peak result (have a very high level of Luteinizing Hormone) and NOT ovulate. Because LH has to pass a certain high threshhold to trigger ovulation. If the hormone goes high, but not quite high enough to trigger ovulation, you will get a Peak OPK result, but you won’t ovulate.
The other thing to realize is that LH doesn’t just go up once during our cycle and then disappear the rest of the time. ALL of our hormones grow and lessen in waves throughout our cycle. MOST women will get one main surge (detectable with OPK’s), but you may be one of the women who has more erratic/unpredictable hormones.
As for the ball thing, that just sounds like a fluke of your cervical mucus. I’ve never experienced that, and I’ve never heard of it before, so I think it was just a coincidence that your CM dried up/became sticky and formed itself into a ball. The wetter/stretchier your CM is, the more fertile it is. So if you have dry, sticky CM, you’re not likely to be ovulating.

KKML125 : The problem is that Clearblue Digital Advanced (the one w circle, flashing smiley and solid smiley) are only supposed to be used up until you get the solid smiley “Peak” fertility. Clearblue Digital specifically designed the test to stay “Peak” (solid smiley) for 48 hours so that you do not continue to test after you get Peak. Just put it back in the box until next cycle.
If you do want to test several times a day or want to use OPKs during your entire fertile window, I suggest using cheap strips like [email protected]ome (theres a good app that goes along with it to track strips/darkness) and Wondfo. Both found on Amazon.
I don’t necessarily like CBD Advanced b/c the last 2 cycles, I’ve had my LH surge in the evening. Which I only caught because I was using the cheap strips multiple times per day, Clearblue went peak the next morning.
Lastly, anything that is like a whitish clear stretchy glob of discharge is most likely fertile cervical mucous. Could be egg white cervical mucous?
