@kainalba:  thanks for the info! I’m not too knowledgeable about pears so would have had no guesses on size etc but it looks great on you!

I have pear side stones. I adore them! I think it’s such an elegant cut and I like that they make my ring more unusual.

Honestly, yes in certain lighting I can see a bow-tie effect. I wouldn’t say it’s very dark though. Also honestly, it really doesn’t bother me. They are small side stones so I doubt anyone else will ever notice. No one studies my ring IRL – our families and friends just don’t care about that stuff. I quite like that it’s part of the personality of the stones, and they are still sparkly and beautiful. If I had a larger pear centre stone, then the bow-tie might bother me, since it would be larger and more noticeable I suppose.

I like pear solitaires but I love pear halos – especially with coloured stones in a diamond halo! Gorgeous. I second a PP though – pears face up big so try some on, you might find you want a smaller carat size than you thought!

This is a 0.45 round with 0.15 pear sides on a size 6.5 finger:

My pear solitaire is being made so I dont have pics yet. The bow tie effect can be seen on ovals, marquises and pears. It is to do with the fancy cut (i will explain it badly so i wont try ๐Ÿ™‚ a good jeweller will be able to give you comfort!). I think the depth has a huge difference as to whether it is noticeable or not and the lighting. We picked my stone and the bow tie is clear. If it is noticeable you should see it right away.

I love pear halos (that was what I wanted originally) but I went with a solitaire for 2 reasons:

1. I have a sapphire halo RHR that I wear every day so wanted my ering to be different

2. I want to leave the option for my wedding ring totally open. I’m a little bit weird and would want the diamonds in my wedding band to perfectly match the diamonds on my ering (if it had stones down the side or a halo) – its just a thing I have. Though other bees certainly rock this look!

Would love to see a pic when you have it ๐Ÿ™‚
