My wedding will be 9/14/19 and we are planning on driving from Northeast PA to Nashville, stopping in Gatlinsburg TN and visiting the smokey mountains. Has anyone ever been there? We live by the Poconos so we have done mountain trips quite often. I’m worried it’ll all just look “the same” to me and now I’m second guessing whether we should splurge on going to The Smokys. We’re not big beach people and we are not keen on leaving the country at this time. Where are you going, and have you ever been to Tennessee? Any and all advice appreciated. Thank you!

Fingers lake region is going to be beautiful that time of the year. You could also do Niagara Falls it’s like 6 hour drive from your area. Maine Acadia will be beautiful and a lot of change in scenery again beautiful that time of year. Litchfield? State park with giant waterfalls. Vermont hiking! Possibilities are endless even if you don’t want to do beach!

If you like mountains and you like outdoor activities I think you’ll like the Gatlinburg area. The art loop makes an awesome day trip. There are plenty of nice trails if you feel like hiking. They have places to rent ATVs, horseback ride, zip line and loads of other choices. You can take the tram to Ober Gatlinburg. They have a lot of cute quirky things like a silly haunted house and house of mirrors. The Roaring Fork Nature Trail is a beautiful drive and you will like see a lot of wildlife. If you do decide to stop you seriously have to eat at the Pancake Pantry. It’s only open for breakfast and lunch. You’ll see lots of pancake places, but ONLY eat at the Pancake Pantry. The line can be very long outside at times but it is sooo worth it!! Unless you hate breakfast and more importantly you hate sweets! Lol.
I’m not personally a huge fan of Pigeon Forge. They do have a restaurant called the Old Mill that’s good, but other than that that’s where the dinner shows are and that area just reminds me of Myrtle Beach and Branson Missouri. Really overly touristy and kind of tacky…BUT I know lots of people love it so maybe it’s just me!

Was in Gatlinburg last summer and it was beautiful. Stay up in a mountain lodge with a great view and plan to sip wine looking at the view from a hot tub. Seriously gorgeous.
We did some of the touristy stuff (titanic museum was okay, mini golf and a comedy barn show that was hilarious). We rafted which was fun, but my favorite parts were chilling ina hot tub with a great view.
