It happens to me occasionally. Once I actually had a doctor ask me over and over and over again! I was ready to tell him I’d pee on stick if he really didn’t believe me! I finally told him well I am sure because (at that time) I hadn’t been active in a few years! That shut him up.

I got sick once and suffered vertigo – my cousins kept asking if I was pregnant. This happens from time to time very much like you mentioned. I get food cravings all the time! People always assume that means you’re pregnant! LOL. I try and just assure them that I am not and often try to tell them that I am not trying and the chances of me being pregnant are pretty much non existent. I mostly get this from close family members so I really have no issue being a little more blunt with them and just saying no and please don’t keep asking.

I got it from my Mum the other day! It was pretty funny.

I write books in my spare time and suck at coming up with good character names. Google suggested buying a baby name book (you can see where this is going…)

Anyway, she found it and called me up, ‘why are you looking into baby names? Is there something you’re not telling me?’ and I panicked trying to explain things. I find it more funny than anything.

My friend has a habit of doing this, only I AM pregnant. I had two choices, 1. lie and deny or 2. tell WAYYYY sooner than I had planned on.  I told her, but I felt really resentful about it.

People should really know that is one question you just don’t ask!  Either answer- yes or no, the people are going to resent you for asking!

I was at my MIL’s 50th birthday party and 9, 9!!! freaking people asked me if I was pregnant!! As I was standing there half toasted drinking a glass of red wine. I looked at them like they were from another planet, looked at my red wine and said “I sure hope not!!” (and I wasn’t!!)

I have a few pre-programed answers:

Are you pregnant? “No we are waiting for the prices on the black market to go down before we pick a few up”

Are you pregnant? “Really? Any how is YOUR sex life? Because that is excatily what you just asked me”, “No not yet but yes I am still having sex with you son/nephew/brother/friend… maybe it isn’t enough.”

Are you pregnant? “As soon as the liquor mart comes out with a delicious wine that is non-alcoholic and still gets me buzzed”

I find if you make a joke people tend to just stop and leave it along. Once I looked at my feet and just started crying. That was funny for me, not so funny for them.

I think people don’t tend to ask me these questions, because they know I do not wish to have children. So obviously, I would not be pregnant OR it wouldn’t be a joy if I was and I would not go telling everybody about my soon-to-be abortion. However, that’s the kind of thing that I find extremely annoying when I hear it. Like someone said, it is basically a very intimate question about your sex life …

My mother does this to me all the time. Everytime I say how tired I am or I don’t feel well she askes me if I could be pregant. Also DH’s family asks me every time we see them if I’m pregant yet. And I respond “nope just fat” and that usally ends the convo.

@lolita39:  My mom, Mother-In-Law and aunt used to ask me all the time and it got really old. I also gained a bit of weight in my tummy and my boobs got bigger.

The other week I saw my girl friends and one of them asked if I was pregnant the minute she saw me and I was kind of pissed because they all know I’m self-conscious about my weight…they’re all so small compared to me. She said my boobs got huge and she was just curious. Just, even if I was pregnant let me tell y’all when I’m ready, sheesh. On top of this, all my close friends and family know I don’t want kids.

@lolita39:  Also, constant comments like that make me paranoid that I’m pregnant and don’t know it. hahaha

Such is life when you’re a woman aged 20-35… lol

I was “pregnant” for 3 years at my office before I actually did conceive… no one believed me when I announced. lol

Well get used to it.  Hubby and i are newly married and i fully intend to hear those questions alot. Already did at the wedding.

Just smile and say “no we’re not pregnant, we’ll let you know when we are.”

And if they ask when you’re going to have kids just say “when we’re ready”
