Responding to a call this morning from the St. Louis City Police, the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force dispatched an investigator to the scene of a severely injured dog that had been tethered to the back of a truck and drug along Highway 55. Upon arrival, the investigator found the driver of the truck distraught by the situation. He stated that he did not know the animal or how it became tied to the back of his vehicle. He was alerted to the incident by another driver who called the police, and signaled him that something was wrong. He pulled over and discovered the dog.
The puppy, a five and a half month old brown, male pit bull, was in shock and is suffering from severe and traumatic injuries including exposed tissue and bones. The puppy is being treated at the Humane Society of Missouri Maryland Heights facility and shelter veterinarians are closely monitoring his condition and doing everything they can to relieve his pain. He had a collar and leash, but no ID tag or microchip were found.”

I saw this story on yahoo, and it led me to the page of the humane society of Missouri. I feel so bad for this poor dog! And IMO, the people who did this should be severly punished. like life in prison. This is cruelty at its worst. I would advise against clicking the link if you are squemish (the page is leads to leads to more pages of the puppy worse off)
I’m so sad for this puppy right now. I can’t imagine the pain he went through 🙁

I feel bad for the driver too, if he was legitimately not involved and inadvertantly dragged the poor puppy :(.
Ugh so sad all around.

I don’t know why i clicked on this post….I can’t handle this shit. These people deserve the same thing they do to these poor animals. I say tie him to the back of a truck and drag him down a street till you can see his bones.

I truly believe in an eye for an eye in these types of situations. Those who starve, beat, mutilate animals deserve the same thing to be done to them. Let’s see how they like having a collar so tight it digs into skin, or going without food. While I’m at it I think the same punishment applies to those who abuse children.

@brandybelle: that is horrible. I want to vomit. I hope that person gets tied to the back of a truck.

I totally agree with all of you. I mean, its a poor defenseless puppy. If you didn’t want it, take it to the shelter, don’t hurt it like that!

Yes they are sick. I have been involved in animal rescue for 20 years and I have never seen it as bad as it is now. Makes me downright ashamed to be a human.

I would tie the asshole who did that to a bumper and drag him until not one square inch of skin remained. That is disgusting!!

@kayrie95: teared up as well.
What f’n assholes (excuse my language). I hope karma gets the abuser to the extreme. We have a rescue puppy (we got him at 12 weeks and were told by the fosters he was rescued at 3 weeks) who STILL has clear issues that something bad happened to him involving a male (DH is the only male he’s not terrified of). You can tell this dog gives such “grateful he’s in a safe home” love that touches my heart.
I just hate heartless people!
